Karibanna Content has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Free Color. The album features the film’s original music composed by Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic music director Gustavo Dudamel (The Liberator), Nascuy Linares (Embrace of the Serpent, Luxor), Devendra Banhart (Joshy, Arkansas), Alvaro Paiva Bimbo and Sebastián Arvelo. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out audio samples. Free Color is directed by Alberto Arvelo and centers on late Carlos Cruz-Diez, one of the most prominent and influential Kinetic-Optic artists of our time. The movie follows the maestro as he takes on the most daring project of his creative life in his twilight years.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (August 12, 2016)
Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Pete’s Dragon directed by David Lowery and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The film’s original music is composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet, Tumbleweed). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by Bonnie “Prince” Billy, The Lumineers, Lindsey Stirling feat. Also opening wide is the animated comedy Sausage Party directed by Conrad Vernon & Greg Tiernan and starring Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and Nick Kroll. Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses) have composed the film’s original score. Menken has also contributed the original song The Great Beyond (with lyrics by Glenn Slater and the screenwriters). Devendra Banhart to Score Jeff Baena’s ‘Joshy’
Singer/songwriter Devendra Banhart has been tapped to write the music for the upcoming indie comedy Joshy. The film is written and directed by Jeff Baena (Life After Beth, writer of I Heart Huckabees) and stars Thomas Middleditch, Adam Pally, Alex Ross Perry, Nick Kroll, Brett Gelman and Jenny Slate. The movie follows the title character who treats what would have been his bachelor party as an opportunity to reconnect with his friends. Liz Destro (Life of Crime, About Cherry) is producing the project for Destro Films, alongside Michael Zakin (Mozart in the Jungle, The Bling Ring) for American Zoetrope.
