Premiering tomorrow, May 13 is the Spectrum Original series L.A.’s Finest based on the Bad Boys feature franchise and starring Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, Zack Gilford, Duane Martin, Ryan McPartlin, Sophie Reynolds and Ernie Hudson. The show’s original music is composed by Laura Karpman (Underground, Step, Set It Up, Paris Can Wait, Taken, Black Nativity). Premiering on Tuesday, May 14, is the HBO documentary What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali directed by Antoine Fuqua about the boxing legend’s greatest triumphs and comebacks. Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, The Good Shepherd, The Affair, Ray Donovan, Enough Said) has composed the film’s original music. Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan) has composed the original score for the upcoming comedy Murder Mystery. The film is directed by Kyle Newacheck (Game Over, Man!, Workaholics) and stars Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Luke Evans, Gemma Arterton, Luis Gerardo Mendez, Shioli Kutsuna, David Walliams, Adeel Akhtar, John Kani, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Dany Boon and Terence Stamp. The comedy follows a New York cop and his wife who – after attending a gathering on a billionaire’s yacht during a European vacation – become prime suspects when he’s murdered.

Rupert Gregson-Williams to Score Guan Hu’s ‘800’

Rupert Gregson-Williams (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan, The Crown) is set to compose the music for the upcoming Chinese war epic 800 (Ba Bai). The film is directed by Guan Hu (Mr. Six, Cow) and tells the story of a group of Chinese soldiers and draft dodgers in 1937 who put up a four-day defense of a Shanghai warehouse complex just as Japanese forces are overwhelming China. The movie is produced by Huayi Brothers Media.

Harry & Rupert Gregson-Williams Team Up to Score Hulu’s ‘Catch-22’

Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, The Martian) and Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge) are teaming up to score the upcoming Hulu limited series Catch-22. The show is written by Luke Davies (Lion, Beautiful Boy) & David Michôd (Animal Kingdom, The Rover) and stars Christopher Abbott, Kyle Chandler, Hugh Laurie, George Clooney, Giancarlo Giannini, Rafi Gavron, Austin Stowell, Gerran Howell, Pico Alexander and Jay Paulson. The 6-parter is based on Joseph Heller’s novel of the same name and tells the story of the incomparable, artful dodger, Yossarian, a US Air Force bombardier in World War II who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him.

Rupert Gregson-Williams to Score HBO/Sky’s ‘Catherine the Great’

Rupert Gregson-Williams has been hired to score the upcoming HBO/Sky mini-series Catherine the Great. The show is written by Nigel Williams (Elizabeth I, The Name of the Rose) and directed by Philip Martin (The Crown, The Forger) and stars Helen Mirren in the title role, alongside Jason Clarke, Joseph Quinn, Gina McKee, Rory Kinnear, Richard Roxburgh, Kevin R. McNally and Sam Palladio  The 4-parter is set against the politically tumultuous and sexually charged court of Russian empress Catherine the Great, who wielded supreme power throughout Russia for nearly half of the 18th century and follows Catherine at the end of her reign during her affair with Grigory Potemkin.

Five new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:

Already playing in theaters nationwide since this past Wednesday is the movie musical Mary Poppins Returns directed by Rob Marshall and starring Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, Joel Dawson, Angela Lansbury and Dick Van Dyke. The film’s original score is composed by Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, A Few Good Men, Misery) who also wrote the movie’s original songs with Scott Wittman. Opening today is the comic book movie Aquaman directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Ludi Lin and Temuera Morrison. Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan) has composed the film’s original score. ‘Aquaman’ Soundtrack Details

The full details of the soundtrack album for the comic book movie Aquaman have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan, Bee Movie, Over the Hedge). Also included is the original song Everything I Need performed by Skylar Grey who also co-wrote the track with Elliott Taylor, a new song by Pitbull feat. Rhea, as well as a track by composer Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious). The soundtrack will be released tomorrow, December 14 by WaterTower Music and will be available on Amazon (digital version) and here (CD version). Aquaman is directed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Ludi Lin and Temuera Morrison.

Rupert Gregson-Williams Scoring Frank Coraci’s ‘Hot Air’

Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Crown, The Legend of Tarzan) has recently scored the upcoming comedy drama Hot Air. The film is directed by Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy) and stars Steve Coogan, Neve Campbell and Taylor Russell. The movie centers on a conservative talk radio host who finds his world turned upside down when his 16-year-old niece comes crashing into his life. Will Reichel wrote the screenplay. Coraci is also producing the project with Aimee Keen and Susan Leber (Aardvark).

Opening in most theaters is the comedy Life of the Party directed by Ben Falcone and starring Melissa McCarthy, Gillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen, Matt Walsh, Molly Gordon, Stephen Root and Jacki Weaver. The film’s original score is composed by Fil Eisler (Empire, Revenge, How to Be Single, CHiPs). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by Meghan Trainor, Blind Scuba Divers, Chick Norris, Cyndi Lauper & more. Also opening wide is the thriller Breaking In directed by James McTeigue and starring Gabrielle Union, Billy Burke, Richard Cabral, Seth Karr, Ajiona Alexus, Levi Meaden, Jason George and Christa Miller. Johnny Klimek (Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run, One Hour Photo, Sense8, The International) has composed the film’s original score. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the music by Klimek and additional music composer Gabriel Mounsey and a song by James Earl Jones II.
