Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Nerve. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now, The Way Way Back). Also included is the song Let’s Play by Simonsen and White Sea, as well as a remix of Johann Johannsson’s The Sun’s Gone Dim and the Sky’s Turned Black. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, July 29, and is now available for pre-order on iTunes, where you can also check out audio samples. Nerve is directed by Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman and stars Emma Roberts, Dave Franco, Emily Meade, Miles Heizer, Juliette Lewis and Kimiko Glenn. The movie is based on the YA novel by Jeanne Ryan and follows a teenager who finds herself immersed in an online game of truth of dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of “watchers.”

Rob Simonsen is composing the score for the upcoming comedy Bastards. The film marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Lawrence Sher (The Hangover, Garden State) and stars Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, J.K. Simmons, Terry Bradshaw, Jessica Gomes, Katt Williams, Ving Rhames, Katie Aselton and Glenn Close. The movie follows two brothers who set out to find their real father when they find out he is alive after being told he died by their mother when they were young. Justin Malen has written the screenplay.
Rob Simonsen Scoring Marc Webb’s ‘Gifted’
Rob Simonsen has composed the music for the upcoming drama Gifted. The film is directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) and stars Chris Evans, Lindsay Duncan, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer and Mckenna Grace. The movie follows a single man raising his child prodigy niece, when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of his formidable mother. Tom Flynn has written the screenplay. Karen Lunder (Arrival, Premature) and Andy Cohen (Untracable) are producing the project.

Lakeshore Records will release a score album for the drama Burnt. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob Simonsen (The Spectacular Now, Foxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer, The Age of Adaline, The Way, Way Back). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 22, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the songs from the film, as well as four tracks from the composer’s score. Burnt is directed by John Wells (August: Osage County, The Company Men) and stars Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Omar Sy, Daniel Brühl, Uma Thurman, Emma Thompson, Alicia Vikander, Matthew Rhys and Lily James.
Rob Simonsen to Score Zach Braff’s ‘Going in Style’
Rob Simonsen is reteaming with Zach Braff (Garden State, Scrubs) on the upcoming caper comedy Going in Style. The film is a remake of Martin Brest’s 1979 movie of the same title and stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Joey King, Matt Dillon and Ann-Margret. The movie marks Braff’s third feature directorial effort and follows three retired men who lose their pensions when the company they’ve worked for their entire lives is sold to a foreign corporation, which makes them set out to try to rob the very bank that’s withholding their money. Theodore Melfi (St. Vincent) has written the screenplay. Donald De Line (The Italian Job, Pain & Gain, Body of Lies) is producing the New Line Cinema production.

Also included are songs by The Staples Singers, M.C. 2, The Fabulous Originals, Procol Harum and The Silver Stars. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 27, 2015 by Lakeshore Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Stonewall stars Jeremy Irvine, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Joey King, Ron Perlman and Jonny Beauchamp. The movie centers on a fictional young man caught up during the 1969 Stonewall riots.
