Rob Simonsen has composed the music for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Captive State. The film is directed Rupert Wyatt (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Gambler) and stars John Goodman, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors and Colson Baker. The movie is set in Chicago decades after the inhabitancy of alien forces, and explores the lives of two sides of the conflict: the collaborators and dissidents. Wyatt has also co-written the screenplay with Erica Beeney (The Battle of Shaker Heights) and is producing the Participant Media production with David Crockett (A Cure for Wellness).

‘Love, Simon’ Score Album Announced
Lakeshore Records will release a score album for the coming-of-age drama Love, Simon. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, Nerve, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now, The Way, Way Back). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 16, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, RCA Records will release a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie. Love, Simon is directed by Greg Berlanti and stars Nick Robinson, Katherine Langford, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel, Alexandra Shipp, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Miles Heizer, Keiynan Lonsdale, Logan Miller and Tony Hale.
Rob Simonsen Scoring Julia Hart’s ‘Fast Color’
Rob Simonsen has recently composed the music for the upcoming supernatural drama Fast Color. The film is directed by Julia Hart and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lorraine Toussaint, Saniyya Sidney, Christopher Denham and David Strathairn. The movie revolves around a woman who is forced to go on the run when her extraordinary abilities are discovered. Hart also co-wrote the screenplay with Jordan Horowitz (La La Land, The Kids Are All Right) who is producing the project with Mickey Liddell (Jackie, The Grey, Go) and Pete Shilaimon (Megan Leavey, Risen).

The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Big Hero 6, Kong: Skull Island, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). ‘Father Figures’ Soundtrack Details
Epic Records and Alcon Sleeping Giant (ASG) Records will release the official soundtrack album for the comedy Father Figures. The album features the songs from the movie by artists including Zee Will, Neil Diamond, Lord Netty, John Hiatt, Jason Mraz, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Tim Myers & more. Also included is a track from the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer, Nerve, The Spectacular Now). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 15 and will be available to download on Amazon. Father Figures is directed by Lawrence Sher and stars Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, J.K. Simmons, Katt Williams, Terry Bradshaw, Ving Rhames, Harry Shearer, June Squibb, Christopher Walken and Glenn Close.

Rob Simonsen is currently recording his score for the upcoming coming-of-age drama Love, Simon. The film is directed by Greg Berlanti (Life As We Know It, Everwood) and stars Nick Robinson, Katherine Langford, Alexandra Shipp, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Miles Heizer, Keiynan Lonsdale, Logan Miller, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel and Tony Hale. The movie is based on Becky Albertalli’s 2015 book Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and centers on a gay teenager, who, after an email written by him falls into the wrong hands, is forced to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before being pushed out.
Rob Simonsen to Score Neil Burger’s ‘The Upside’
Rob Simonsen has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy drama The Upside. The film is directed by Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist, Divergent) and stars Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart, Nicole Kidman, Julianna Margulies, Aja Naomi King and Golshifteh Farahani. The movie is based on the 2011 French box office hit The Intouchables and centers on the unlikely friendship between a rich quadriplegic and his working-class caregiver. Jon Hartmere wrote the screenplay.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the horror movie Annabelle: Creation directed by David Sandberg and starring Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Anne Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Lou Lou Safran, Samara Lee, Tayler Buck, Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (Hidden Figures, Lights Out, It, A Cure for Wellness, Bitter Harvest). Also opening wide is the animated feature The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature directed by Cal Brunker and featuring the voices of Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl, Maya Rudolph, Bobby Moynihan, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Bobby Cannavale, Isabel Moner, Sebastian Maniscalo and Jackie Chan. Amazon will release a soundtrack album for Marc Webb’s drama The Only Living Boy in New York. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob Simonsen (The Spectacular Now, Nerve, Foxcatcher, Going in Style) who previously collaborated with the director on (500) Days of Summer and Gifted. The soundtrack will be available to download exclusively on Amazon this Friday, August 11 and is now available for pre-order here. The Only Living Boy in New York starring Kate Beckinsale, Callum Turner, Pierce Brosnan, Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Nixon and Kiersey Clemons is set in New York City, where a recent college graduate seeks the guidance of an eccentric neighbor as his life is upended by his father’s mistress.

Rob Simonsen is scoring the upcoming comedy Tully. The film is directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking) and stars Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Mark Duplass and Ron Livingston. The movie follows a mother of three who comes to form a unique bond with a thoughtful, surprising and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully. Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult, United States of Tara) wrote the screenplay. Reitman is also producing the project with Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Labor Day), Aaron L. Gilbert (The Birth of a Nation) for Bron Studios, Cody, Mason Novick (500 Days of Sumer), as well as Theron, A.J. Dix (The Butterfly Effect) & Beth Kono (Atomic Blonde) for Denver & Delilah.
