Sony Masterworks and STX Recordings will release a soundtrack album for the comedy drama The Upside. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob Simonsen (Love, Simon, Nerve, The Spectacular Now, Foxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer, Tully). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 18 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. The Upside is directed by Neil Burger and stars Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston, Nicole Kidman, Julianna Margulies and Aja Naomi King. The movie follows a recently paroled ex-convict who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a paralyzed billionaire.

Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide:
Opening in most theaters is the family drama A Dog’s Way Home directed by Charles Martin Smith and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Ashley Judd, Wes Studi, Alexandra Shipp, Jonah Hauer-King and Edward James Olmos. The film’s original music is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine, On the Basis of Sex). Rob Simonsen to Score Neil Burger’s ‘The Upside’
Rob Simonsen has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy drama The Upside. The film is directed by Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist, Divergent) and stars Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart, Nicole Kidman, Julianna Margulies, Aja Naomi King and Golshifteh Farahani. The movie is based on the 2011 French box office hit The Intouchables and centers on the unlikely friendship between a rich quadriplegic and his working-class caregiver. Jon Hartmere wrote the screenplay.
