Walt Disney Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for Pixar’s upcoming animated film Brave. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Patrick Doyle (Thor, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Sense and Sensibility), as well as songs from Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis and a collaboration between Grammy Award-winning folk rock band Mumford and Sons who penned Learn Me Right sung by Birdy. The soundtrack will be released on June 19, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this site for audio clips. Brave is directed by Mark Andrews and tells the story of an impulsive princess who aims to shed her royal ties and become the world’s first great female archer. The film’s voice talent includes Kelly MacDonald, Emma Thompson, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane and Billy Connolly.

Patrick Doyle’s ‘Man to Man’ Score Album Announced
MovieScore Media has announced a soundtrack album for Régis Wargnier’s 2005 drama Man to Man. The album includes the score from the film written by Academy Award-nominated composer Patrick Doyle (Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes). The music is performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Man to Man starring Joseph Fiennes, Kristin Scott Thomas and Hugh Bonneville centers on three anthropologists who hunt and capture pygmies for study, in an attempt to illustrate the link between man and ape.

Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the thriller Contagion directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Ehle, Laurence Fishburne, Brian Cranston and John Hawkes. The film’s music is composed by Cliff Martinez. A soundtrack album featuring the score by Martinez has been released by Watertower Music. Also opening wide is the drama Warrior directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison and Noah Emmerich. The movie’s score is written by Mark Isham. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album including Isham’s score, as well as a song by The National. The digital release is already out and a CD version will be released next Tuesday. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
The sci-fi adventure prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes directed by Rupert Hyatt and starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow and Brian Cox is already guaranteed to top the weekend box office. The film’s music is composed by Patrick Doyle. A soundtrack album featuring the Doyle’s score will be released on CD later this month on Varese Sarabande. The other wide release of the week is the comedy The Change-Up directed by David Dobkin and starring Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, Leslie Mann, Alan Arkin and Olivia Wilde. ‘Jig’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack release for the documentary Jig. The film’s music is by Patrick Doyle who also has two blockbuster scores coming out this summer (Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Apart from the score, the soundtrack also features the song Now Is Your Time with music written by the composer and performed by his daughter Abigail Doyle. The album will be released on July 12, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Jig is directed and produced by Sue Bourne and tells the story of the 40th Irish Dancing World Championships. The film opened in May in the UK and will be released on June 17 in select cities in the US.

The soundtrack includes the score from the movie by composer Patrick Doyle on his second major summer blockbuster project after Thor. The album will be released on July 26, 2011. ‘Jig’ Features Music by Patrick Doyle
A project that somehow slipped under our radar is the documentary Jig, which opened in the UK last weekend. The film’s score is by Patrick Doyle whose music can currently been heard in Kenneth Branagh’s comic book adaption of Thor. Jig tells the story of the 40th Irish Dancing World Championships. The documentary directed and produced by Sue Bourne was given access for the very first time to the little known world of competitive Irish Dancing. Doyle’s Music was written for a small ensemble, including violin, guitar and flute. No information on a soundtrack release is available. The comic book adaptation Thor directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo and Stellan Skarsgaard is expected to top the weekend box office.
