Film Music Reporter has received official confirmation that Patrick Doyle is attached to score the upcoming Pixar animation movie Brave. Pixar’s first fairy tale and first female-driven feature tells the story of an impulsive princess who aims to shed her royal ties and become the world’s first great female archer. It was recenly announced that Kelly Macdonald will be voicing the main character. The film’s voice cast also includes Emma Thompson, Craig Ferguson and Billy Connolly. Brave is directed by Mark Andrews who worked as story supervisor on The Incredibles and Ratatouille. The project marks Doyle’s first collaboration with Pixar. Doyle follows Randy Newman, Thomas Newman and Michael Giacchino as the fourth composer scoring a feature animation film for the studio.

‘Thor’ Soundtrack announced

Buena Vista Records has announced the details for the soundtrack of the upcoming comic book adaptation of Thor. The album includes Patrick Doyle’s original score from the film and will be released in some European territories at the end of April and on May 3, 2011 in the US. Amazon has a soundtrack for Thor up for pre-order. Audio clips have been added below. Thor is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo and Stellan Skarsgaard. The film is based on the Marvel comic books series and follows disabled medical student Donald Blake, who has an alter ego as the hammer-wielding Norse god Thor. The movie will be released in 3D on May 6, 2011.
‘La Ligne Droite’ Soundtrack announced
Varese Sarabande Records has announced a soundtrack release for the French drama La ligne droite. The film’s music is written by composer Patrick Doyle and 21 tracks of his score will be featured on the album. The soundtrack album will be released on March 8, 2011. It will only be released as a physical CD in Europe, but the album will be available in the US on iTunes. La ligne droite is directed by Regis Wargnier, a long time collaborator of Doyle, who has directed such movies as Indochine, Une femme francaise, Est-Ouest and Man to Man. The film will be released in France on March 9.
Patrick Doyle to score new animation
Patrick Doyle will provide the score for the upcoming animated feature Sir Billi. In the movie, a retired veterinarian living in a remote Scottish village encounters a goat who thinks he’s a dog, an Admiral who’s afraid of the water and a beaver who was raised by rabbits. The movie’s voice talent includes Sean Connery, Alan Cumming and Miriam Margolyes. Doyle himself is also going to voice one of the characters in the film. The movie is currently in post production and no release date has been announced so far.
