Airing tomorrow, December 17 on NBC is the pilot for the new comedy series 1600 Penn created by Jason Winer (Modern Family, Arthur) and starring Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman, Josh Gad, Martha MacIsaac, Amara Miller, Benjamin Stockham and Andre Holland. The show’s score is composed by Orr Rebhun and Erica Weis who have previously written a couple of tracks for the feature comedies The Other Guys and The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard and worked on the score for the first couple of episodes of ABC’s Don’t Trust the B— in Apt. 23. The comedy follows a dysfunctional family living in the White House. Winer has also directed the pilot and is executive producing the series with Gad and Jon Lovett. 1600 Penn will premiere on January 10, 2013 and air every Thursday night on NBC. Daniel Licht to Score NBC’s ‘Deception’
Daniel Licht has been hired to score the upcoming NBC drama Deception. The show is created by Liz Heldens (Mercy, Friday Night Lights) and stars Meagan Good, Victor Garber, Katherine LaNasa, Tate Donovan, Marin Hinkle, Laz Alonso, Ella Rae Peck and Wes Brown. The series, which was previously entitled Infamous, follows a female detective who returns undercover to the wealthy and troubled family she grew up in to solve the murder of a notorious heiress who was once her closest friend. Heldens is executive producing the drama with Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Lloyd Braun (Alphas), Gene Stein (Less Than Perfect) and Peter Horton (Grey’s Anatomy). Infamous is set to premiere on January 7, 2013 and will be airing every Monday night on NBC.

While no major network shows will be premiering this coming week, NBC will air the pilot for Mockingbird Lane on Friday. The reboot of the classic CBS sitcom The Munsters is written by Bryan Fuller and directed by Bryan Singer. The one-hour special stars Jerry O’Connell as family patriarch Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. Cheyenne Jackson, Mason Cook, Charity Wakefield and Beth Grant are also starring in the pilot. Jim Dooley who previously worked with Fuller on the critically acclaimed series Pushing Daisies has scored the pilot. A couple of new shows are premiering on the major networks this week:
Premiering on Wednesday, October 10 is the superhero drama Arrow based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Mark Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg and starring Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, Susanna Thompson, Willa Holland and Colin Salmon. The show’s score is composed by Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Everwood, Brothers & Sisters). The composer recorded the music for the pilot with a full 80 piece orchestra at the Warner Bros. Behind the Music of NBC’s ‘Revolution’
A behind-the-scenes look at the music for NBC’s sci-fi drama Revolution has been published today. The video features an interview with the show’s composer Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Hop, Supernatural), as well footage from the recording sessions of the score. The music is recorded weekly with a full orchestra at the Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage in Burbank. Revolution created by created by Eric Kripke, produced by J.J. Abrams and starring Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridako, Anna Lise Phillips, Elizabeth Mitchell, Zak Orth and Giancarlo Esposito recently premiered on NBC and was the network’s top-rated drama debut in several years, as well as this season’s highest rated new series. The show has already been picked up for a full season earlier this week.
NBC to Develop Music Dramedy with Diane Warren
Deadline is reporting that multiple Academy Award-nominated songwriter Diane Warren is teaming up with executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Smash, Hairspray, The Bucket List) to develop an hour-long musical dramedy show for NBC. Krista Vernoff (Grey’s Anatomy) is writing and producing the project. The series will feature the music catalog of Warren, who serves as a consulting producer. The dramedy centers on a 30-something songwriter who has written the most epic love songs of our time, despite, or perhaps due to the fact that she is painfully unlucky in love. Zadan and Meron have been friends with Warren for over a decade and previously worked together with her on the 1999 ABC musical Double Platinum, for which the songwriter composed an original song.

Premiering tonight is the mystery drama 666 Park Avenue created by David Wilcox (Fringe) and starring Rachael Taylor, Dave Annable, Vanessa Williams, Terry O’Quinn, Mercedes Masöhn, Robert Buckley, Helena Mattsson, Erik Palladino and Samantha Logan. The show about a couple who learns that the Manhattan building complex that they just moved into might be possessed by a mysterious demonic force will be airing every Sunday night on ABC.
Atli Orvarsson Scoring NBC’s ‘Chicago Fire’
Atli Orvarsson is currently scoring the new NBC drama Chicago Fire. The show is created by Michael Brandt & Derek Haas (3:10 to Yuma, Wanted) and stars Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Lauren German, Monica Raymund, Charlie Barnett, Teri Reeves, David Eigenberg and Eamonn Walker. The series follows the lives of the firefighters, rescue squad and paramedics working at the Chicago Fire Department at the firehouse of Engine 51. Brandt and Haas are also executive producing the Universal Television and Wolf Films Production with Dick Wolf (Law & Order), Matt Olmstead (Prison Break), Joe Chappelle (Fringe), Danielle Gelber and Peter Jankowski. Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) directed the pilot episode.

Premiering this Monday, September 17 on NBC is the new drama Revolution created by Eric Kripke, produced by J.J. Abrams and starring Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridako, Elizabeth Mitchell, Anna Lise Phillips, Zak Orth and Giancarlo Esposito. Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Hop) who is also scoring the Kripke-created CW series Supernatural is writing the original music for the sci-fi show, which follows follows a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. Jon Favreau (Iron Man) has directed the pilot episode, which is now available to download for free on iTunes.

Earlier this past week, the Cartoon Network premiered Dreamworks Animation’s Dragons: Riders of Berk based on the Academy Award-nominated hit film How to Train Your Dragon. The show’s voice talent includes the cast from the movie, including Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and T. J. Miller. John Paesano (Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas) is composing the series’ music and is incorporating John Powell’s themes from the feature version into his score. The first episode is available to download for free on iTunes and the show airs every Tuesday night on the Cartoon Network.
