Premiering tonight is the National Geographic event series The Hot Zone: Anthrax created by Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson and starring Daniel Dae Kim, Tony Goldwyn, Dawn Olivieri,Morgan Kelly, Ian Colletti, Denyce Lawton, Vanessa Matsui, Carlos Gonzalez-Vio, Enrico Colantoni and Harry Hamlin. The show’s original music is composed by John Paesano (Daredevil, The Maze Runner, Invincible, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, When the Game Stands Tall, The Star). Premiering tomorrow, November 29, is the documentary 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible directed by Torquil Jones and executive produced by Jimmy Chin & Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi. Nainita Desai (For Sama, The Reason I Jump, The Tower, American Murder: The Family Next Door, Sophie: A Murder in West Cork, Telling Lies, Enemy Within) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Friday. John Paesano Scoring National Geographic’s ‘The Hot Zone: Anthrax’

John Paesano (Daredevil, The Maze Runner, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Invincible, When the Game Stands Tall, The Star) has composed the original music for the new National Geographic limited series The Hot Zone: Anthrax. The show’s cast includes Daniel Dae Kim, Tony Goldwyn, Dawn Olivieri, Ian Colletti, Morgan Kelly, Denyce Lawton, Carlos Gonzalez-Vio, Vanessa Matsui, Enrico Colantoni and Harry Hamlin. The 6-parter takes place in 2001, just weeks after 9/11, when letters containing anthrax were sent to unsuspecting victims in Florida, Washington, D.C., and New York, claiming five lives, and follows a team of FBI agents and scientists as they slowly close in on a prime suspect.

Soundtrack Album for National Geographic’s ‘The Rescue’ Documentary to Be Released

Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary The Rescue. The album features the film’s original score by Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Birds of Prey, Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Ocean’s 8, Enola Holmes). Also included is the original song Believe co-written (with Pemberton & Gary Go) and performed by Aloe Blacc. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 19 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. The Rescue is directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi & Jimmy Chin (Free Solo) and chronicles the the daring rescue of twelve boys and their coach from deep inside a flooded cave in Northern Thailand in 2018.

The album features the show’s original music composed and produced by Neil Davidge (Unleashed, Push, Halo 4, Britannia, Monsters: Dark Continent, Hard Sun, Good People). Hollywood Records has released a new digital single featuring the National Geographic Theme written by Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, Ghostbusters, Airplane, Far from Heaven, The Great Escape), as well as a new version of the theme arranged by Anže Rozman (The Planets, Great Bear Rainforests) and produced by Russell Emanuel for Bleeding Fingers Music. Bernstein’s theme (written in the 1960s) has been used in hundreds of National Geographic programs over the last couple of decades.

Hollywood Records will release the official soundtrack album for National Geographic’s Disney+ docu-series Secrets of the Whales. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Raphaelle Thibaut (Introducing, Selma Blair, Landing Home). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, April 16 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Secrets of the Whales is directed by Brian Armstrong & Andy Mitchell and plunges viewers deep within the epicenter of whale culture to experience the extraordinary communication skills and intricate social structures of five different whale species: orcas, belugas, humpbacks, narwhals and sperm whales. The 4-parter executive produced by James Cameron and narrated by Sigourney Weaver was filmed over three years in 24 locations and will premiere on Earth Day, April 22 on Disney+.

Premiering today is the the National Geographic event series Genius: Aretha created by Suzan-Lori Parks and starring Cynthia Erivo, Courtney B. Vance, Malcolm Barrett, Pauletta Washington, David Cross, Patrice Covington, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Steven Norfleet. The show’s original score is composed by Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man, Da 5 Bloods, Malcolm X). Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft County, Insecure) serves as the project’s executive music producer and Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe have provided a new version of their Emmy Award-nominated main titles theme. Premiering on Wednesday, March 24 is the HBO Sports documentary The Day Sports Stood Still directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Brian Grazer & Justin Wilkes about the unprecedented sports shutdown in March of 2020 and the remarkable turn of events that followed. Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, Enough Said, The Affair, Ray Donovan, The Good Shepherd, The Loudest Voice) has composed the film’s original music.
