Premiering tonight is the Lifetime original mini-series The Red Tent directed by Roger Young, executive produced by Paula Weinstein and starring Minnie Driver, Morena Baccarin, Rebecca Ferguson, Iain Glen, Will Tudor and Debra Winger. The series’ original music is composed by Laurent Eyquem (Copperhead, Winnie Mandela, Rage). The two-parter based on the best-selling novel by Anita Diamant tells the story of Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob and will air tonight and tomorrow on Lifetime. Joseph LoDuca to Score TNT’s ‘The Librarians’
Joseph LoDuca has been hired to score the upcoming TNT original series The Librarians. The show is based on The Librarian television franchise and stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim and John Larroquette. Noah Wyle, Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin are reprising their roles from the film trilogy. The drama centers on an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around. Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate, The Patriot), John Rogers (The Core, Catwoman) and Marc Roskin (Leverage, Geostorm) are also executive producing the Electric Entertainment production with Wyle.
Joseph LoDuca to Score Joe Dante’s ‘Burying the Ex’
Joseph LoDuca has been hired to score the upcoming horror comedy Burying the Ex. The film is directed by Joe Dante and stars Anton Yelchin, Ashley Greene, Alexandra Daddario and Oliver Cooper. The movie follows a normal guy whose controlling girlfriend suddenly dies in a freak accident and rises from the grave to haunt him. Alan Trezza has written the screenplay. The comedy is produced by Image Entertainment, Scooty Woop Entertainment and Act 4 Entertainment production. Voltage Pictures’ Nicholas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Dallas Buyers Club) is executive producing the project with Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler), Zev Foreman and Dominic Rustam.
‘Curse of Chucky’ Soundtrack Released
Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album for the horror movie Curse of Chucky. The album features the film’s original score composed by Joseph LoDuca (Army of Darkness, Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Curse of Chucky is written and directed by franchise creator Don Mancini and stars Brad Dourif as Chucky’s voice, alongside Fiona Dourif, Danielle Bisutti, Maitland McConnell and Chantal Quesnelle. The movie finds a finds a new family imperiled by the murderous doll that launched a generation’s nightmares. The film will be released on October 8 on Blu-ray and DVD by Universal Home Entertainment.
‘Spartacus: War of the Damned’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the Starz original series Spartacus: War of the Damned. The album features selections from the score of the final season of the Spartacus series composed by Joseph LoDuca (Spartacus: Blood And Sand, Xena: Warrior Princess). The soundtrack will be released on April 2, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. Spartacus: War of the Damned created by Steven S. DeKnight and starring Liam McIntyre, Manu Bennett, Dustin Clare, Daniel Feuerriegel, Simon Merrells, Todd Lasance, Christian Antidormi, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Pana Hema-Taylor, Ellen Hollman, Gwendoline Taylor, Jenna Lind, Anna Hutchison, Ditch Davey and Barry Duffield is the third and final season of the Spartacus show. The final episodes currently air every Friday night on Starz.
Weekly Film Music Roundup (August 3, 2012)
Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Total Recall directed by Len Wiseman and starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy, John Cho and Ethan Hawke. Harry Gregson-Williams has composed the film’s original score. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. The album is available digitally on iTunes and a physical release is reportedly in the works. Visit our previous news article for the full soundtrack details. Also opening wide is the family movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days directed by David Bowers and starring Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron, Devon Bostick, Rachael Harris and Steve Zahn. The film’s score is composed by Edward Shearmur (Charlie’s Angels, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow) who previously scored last year’s second installment in the series. ‘Spartacus: Vengeance’ Soundtrack Details

The album includes selections of the original score from the show composed by Joseph LoDuca, as well as from last year’s prequel series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena on a second disc. The soundtrack will be released on April 3, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Spartacus: Vengeance starring Liam McIntyre, Lucy Lawless, Manu Bennett, Peter Mensah and Katrina Law follows Spartacus and his gladiator rebellion on the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus as they begin to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic. The last couple of episodes of the season are currently airing every Friday night on Starz.
Joseph LoDuca to Score ‘Freaky Deaky’
Joseph LoDuca is scoring the upcoming action comedy Freaky Deaky. The film directed by Charles Matthau is based on the novel by Elmore Leonard (Jackie Brown, Out of Sight). The movie starring Billy Burke, Christian Slater, Crispin Glover, Michael Jai White, Breanne Racano and Roger Bart centers on a LAPD bomb squad officer who stumbles upon a plot by two former hippie activists who plan to use their bomb-making skills to trick an alcoholic movie mogul into handing over millions of dollars. An adaptation of the Leonard’s crime novel has been in development for years with Quentin Tarantino and John Malkovich being attached to the project at one point.

TNT:
The most successful new show of the summer on TNT is the sci-fi series Falling Skies. The project starring Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Sarah Carter and Maxim Knight is produced by Steven Spielberg and centers on an alien invasion of Earth and the resistance formed by the survivor. Also producing are Graham Yost (Justified) and Robert Rodat (writer of Saving Private Ryan). Noah Sorota is scoring the show. Joseph LoDuca to Score ‘Soldiers of Fortune’
Joseph LoDuca has signed on to score the upcoming action adventure film Soldiers of Fortune. The film is directed by Maksim Korostyshevsky and stars Sean Bean, Christian Slater, Dominic Monaghan, Ving Rhames, James Cromwell, Freddy Rodriguez and Colm Meaney. In the movie, a group of wealthy thrill-seekers pay huge premiums to have themselves inserted into military adventures, only this time things don’t go exactly to plan. Soldiers of Fortune was shot last year around the Ukraine and is currently awaiting a release date.
