Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Warcraft directed by Duncan Jones and starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu. The film’s original music composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Clash of the Titans, Person of Interest). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the action adventure sequel Now You See Me 2 directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Daniel Radcliffe, Lizzy Caplan, Jay Chou, Sanaa Lathan, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Brian Tyler (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Varese Sarbande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. ‘Puerto Ricans in Paris’ Soundtrack Details

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Puerto Ricans in Paris. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jonathan Sadoff (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, The Meddler, Beautiful Creatures). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 17, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Puerto Ricans in Paris is directed by Ian Edelman and stars Luis Guzman, Edgar Garcia, Alice Taglioni, Rosie Perez and Rosario Dawson. The movie follows two brothers who happen to be New York City’s two best counterfeit detectives and head to Paris in hopes of cracking a case and collecting a handsome fee.

Opening nationwide this week is the fantasy adventure The Huntsman: Winter’s War directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and starring Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Nick Frost, Sam Claflin, Rob Brydon and Jessica Chastain. The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, Maleficent, The Sixth Sense). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a new version of the song Castle by Halsey arranged by the Howard. Opening in around 400 theaters is the comedy drama A Hologram for the King written and directed by Tom Tykwer and starring Tom Hanks, Alexander Black, Sarita Choudhury, Ben Winshaw, Tom Skerritt, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Jay Abdo. Tykwer (The International, Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run) has also written the film’s original music with Johnny Klimek (One Hour Photo, Sense8). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score. Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Gal Gadot. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Man of Steel) and Junkie XL (Deadpool, Mad Max: Fury Road, 300: Rise of an Empire). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score in several different versions. Check out our previous article for the full album details. Jonathan Sadoff Scoring Lorene Scafaria’s ‘The Meddler’

Jonathan Sadoff is reteaming with director Lorene Scafaria on the upcoming indie comedy drama The Meddler. The film is written and directed by Scafaria and stars Rose Byrne, Susan Sarandon and J.K. Simmons. The movie follows a young woman who is trying desperately to establish some boundaries with her incessantly doting mother. Joy Gorman (Adult World) and Paul Green (The Loft) are producing the Anonymous Content production. Sadoff has previously co-scored Scafaria’s feature directorial debut Seeking a Friend for the End of the World with Rob Simonsen.

‘Beautiful Creatures’ to Feature Music by thenewno2

The alternative rock band thenewno2 is writing the music for the upcoming fantasy romance Beautiful Creatures. The film is directed by Richard LaGravenese and stars Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert as two star-crossed lovers who uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, Thomas Mann and Emma Thompson are co-starring in the film. LaGravenese has also written the screenplay based on the first novel in the best-selling series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Erwin Stoff (Water for Elephants) is producing the Alcon Entertainment production with Andrew A. Kosove & Broderick Johnson (The Blind Side), Molly Mickler Smith (Something Borrowed) and David Valdes (The Green Mile). The movie marks the first feature scoring assignment of thenewno2. The band’s current members include Jonathan Sadoff who has scored several films over the last couple of years, including this year’s comedy drama Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (co-scored with Rob Simonsen).

Expected to top the weekend box office is Pixar’s 13th full length animated feature Brave directed by Mark Andrews and featuring the voice talent of Kelly MacDonald, Emma Thompson, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane and Billy Connolly. The film’s score is composed by Patrick Doyle. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs from Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis and a collaboration between folk rock band Mumford and Sons who penned Learn Me Right sung by Birdy. ‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’ Score Album Announced

Lakeshore Records will be releasing a score album for the indie dramedy Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. The soundtrack features 13 tracks from the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (500 Days of Summer) and Jonathan Sadoff (Good Time Max). The album will be released digitally on June 19, 2012 and will be available to download on Amazon. Audio clips from the score can be checked out after the jump. As previously announced, the label is also releasing a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s songs (click here for the full details and audio clips). Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is directed by Lorene Scafaria and stars Steve Carrell, Keira Knightley, Adam Brody, Connie Briton, Melanie Lynskey, William Peterson, T.J. The movie stars Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley as two neighbors who embark on a road trip to find the former’s high school sweetheart before an incoming asteroid ends all life on Earth. William Peterson, Adam Brody, Connie Briton, Melanie Lynskey , T.J. Miller, Patton Oswalt, Rob Corddry, Derek Luke, Rob Huebel, Lindsay Sloane and Gillian Jacobs are co-starring. The film is written and directed by Lorene Scafaria (screenwriter of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) who makes her directorial debut on the project. Steve Golin (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Babel) & Joy Gorman of Anonymous Content and Steven Rales (Moonrise Kingdom) & Mark Royba (Doubt, Shaft) of Indian Paintbrush are producing.
