Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau are composing the music for the IFC comedy mini-series The Spoils of Babylon. The six part-series is created by Matt Piedmont and Andrew Steele and stars Will Ferrell, Jessica Alba, Val Kilmer, Tobey Maguire, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, Tim Robbins and Kristen Wiig. The Funny or Die production is a parody of an “epic” mini-series about a war-torn oil dynasty, in the vein of The Thorn Birds and Winds of War. Piedmont and Steele are also executive producing the project with Ferrell, Adam McKay (Talladega Nights, The Other Guys) and Nate Young. Feltenstein and Nau have previously written the music for Piedmont’s Casa de mi Padre and McKay’s Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which just opened in theaters this weekend.

Two new movies are opening wide this week:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the comedy sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues directed by Adam McKay and starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, James Marsden and Kristen Wiig. The film’s original score is composed by Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau (Casa De Mi Padre, Bachelorette). The duo has also composed the film’s original songs, including Doby (co-written with Ferrell and McKay), which is up for an Academy Award nomination in the Best Song category (click here to listen to the track). Also opening wide is the 3D family action adventure Walking With Dinosaurs directed by Neil Nightingale & Barry Cook and which follows two brothers looking to follow in their father’s footsteps, which leads them to a showdown with dinosaurs in the Arctic. Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works and expected to be released in 2014. ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ Soundtrack Announced
Republic Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the comedy sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The album features the songs featured in the film performed by the movie’s characters such as Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind, including a cover version of Christopher Cross’s Ride Like The Wind by Burgundy and Robin Thicke, as well as original songs composed by the film’s composers Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau. Also featured are a number of classic songs by artists including Neil Diamond, Hot Chocolate and Kenny Loggins. The soundtrack will be released on December 17, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau Scoring ‘A Many Splintered Thing’
Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau have been tapped to score the upcoming indie romantic comedy A Many Splintered Thing. The film is directed by Justin Reardon and stars Chris Evans, Michelle Monaghan, Anthony Mackie, Aubrey Plaza, Giovanni Ribisi, Topher Grace, Luke Wilson, Ashley Tisdale and Philip Baker Hall. The movie follows a young man disillusioned by love who meets an engaged woman and feigns a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to conquer her heart. Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair have written the Black List screenplay. McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) and Mary Viola are producing the project with Voltage Pictures’ Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep) & Craig Flores (Charlie Countryman).

Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau have signed on to score and write songs for the upcoming comedy sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues. The film is directed by Adam McKay and stars Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Paul Rudd who reprise their characters from the original movie. They are joined by new cast members Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Dylan Baker and Meagan Good. Judd Apatow returns as a producer of the Gary Sanchez and Apatow Productions project. Feltenstein & Nau have previously scored Casa De Mi Padre and Bachelorette for Ferrell’s production company. Alex Wurman (March of the Penguins) scored the original 2004 film. Anchorman: The Legend Continues is set to be released on December 20, 2013 by Paramount Pictures.
Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau Scoring ‘Better Living Through Chemistry’
Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau have recently completed their score for the upcoming comedic thriller Better Living Through Chemistry. The film is directed by Geoff Moore and David Posamentier and stars Sam Rockwell as a small-town pharmacist stuck in a loveless marriage starts an affair with a trophy wife, played by Olivia Wilde, who takes him on a joyride involving sex, drugs and possibly murder. Michelle Monaghan, Ray Liotta and Jane Fonda are co-starring. Joe Neurauter & Felipe Marino (The Wackness, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane) are producing the project for Occupant Films.

Opening in most theaters is the thriller The Words written and directed by Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal and stars Bradley Cooper, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Ben Barnes, John Hannah, J.K. Simmons and Nora Arnezeder. The film’s music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (The Good Shepherd, The Door in the Floor). Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau Scoring ‘Bachelorette’
Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau have composed the score for the indie comedy Bachelorette. The comedy is written and directed by Leslye Headland (Terriers) and stars Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan as three best friends who are invited to act as bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl they called “Pigface” in high school. James Marsden, Adam Scott, Rebel Wilson and Kyle Bornheimer are co-starring in the comedy produced Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Jessica Elbaum for Gary Sanchez Productions. Feltenstein and Nau have previously scored the production company’s Spanish-language comedy Casa De Mi Padre starring Ferrell. Bachelorette premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival back in January and featured a different score by composer Michael Wandmacher. The Weinstein Company’s Radius label picked up rights for the film and is planning a release on iTunes on August 10 followed by a theatrical release on September 6.

Expected to top the other films in release at the box office is the action comedy 21 Jump Street directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and starring Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Brie Larson and Ellie Kemper. The film’s score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh who previously collaborated with the director’s on their animated feature hit Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. ‘Casa de mi Padre’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the comedy Casa de mi Padre. The album includes Christina Aguilera’s title song, as well as selections from the film’s score written by Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau and a number of other songs from the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 13, 2012 (with a March 6 pre-sale). A CD version is scheduled to come out on March 27 and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
