Jeff Russo and Zoe Keating have taken over scoring duties on the WGN America original series Manhattan. The show is created by Sam Shaw and stars John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams, William Petersen, Ashley Zukerman, Rachel Brosnahan, Harry Lloyd, Katja Herbers, Christopher Denham, Michael Chernus, Harry Lloyd, Mamie Gummer and Griffin Dunne. The drama is set Los Alamos, New Mexico during World War II and follows the brilliant but flawed scientists who built the first atomic bomb and their families.

Tonight, the SCL (Society of Composers & Lyricists) will be hosting the composer panel Composing Combos. The event will feature a conversation with Jeff Russo (Fargo, Power, CSI: Cyber) & cellist Zoë Keating who have co-scored the first season of A&E’s The Returned, as well as James Levine (Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story) & Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed) who are co-scoring the TNT hit series The Last Ship. Both combos will discuss the unique process of combining creative visions while working together to score television shows.
Jeff Russo and Ben Decter to Score CBS’ ‘Extant’ Season 2
Jeff Russo and Ben Decter are the new composers of the CBS series Extant. The show is created by Mickey Fisher and stars Halle Berry, Goran Visnjic, Pierce Gagnon, Camryn Manheim and Grace Gummer. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has also joined the cast of season 2. The show follows a female astronaut who discovers she has unwittingly put the human race on a path to destruction, and that she and a mysterious stranger may be the only hope for survival. The first season of the Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios production was scored by Marcelo Zarvos.

Jeff Russo has been tapped to score the upcoming Spike TV original miniseries Tut. The limited series is directed by David Von Ancken (Seraphim Falls, Californication) and stars Avan Jogia, Ben Kingsley, Alexander Siddig, Nonso Anozi, Iddo Goldberg, Peter Gadiot, Sibylla Deen and Kylie Bunbury. The 6-parter tells the story of Tutankhamun, aka King Tut, the youngest Pharaoh to rule Ancient Egypt, whose famous golden sarcophagus has become one of the symbols of the ancient civilization. Joel S. Rice and Michael Prupas (The Pillars of the Earth, Being Human, The Kennedys) are executive producing the project for Muse Entertainment, alongside Michael Vickerman (Warriors of Virtue), Bradley Bredeweg, Peter Paige & Greg Gugliotta (The Fosters), Jeremy Elice and Angela Mancuso.

Jeff Russo to Score USA’s ‘Complications’
Jeff Russo has been hired to score the upcoming USA drama Complications. The show is created by Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and stars Jason O’Mara, Jessica Szohr, Beth Riesgraf and Lauren Stamile. The series follows a disillusioned suburban ER doctor who finds his existence transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy’s life and killing one of his attackers. Nix has also directed the pilot episode and is executive producing the Fox Television Studios production with Michael Horowitz.
