Premiering on Tuesday, September 24, on ABC is Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive produced by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen and starring Clark Gregg, Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Chloe Bennett. Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica) is scoring the show weekly with a full orchestra. Jeff Russo and Ben Decter to Score CBS’ ‘Hostages’
Jeff Russo and Ben Decter are scoring the upcoming serialized CBS drama Hostages. The show is created by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor, writer of The Day After Tomorrow) and stars Toni Collette as a premiere surgeon who is thrust into a chilling political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent, played by Dylan McDermott, who orders her to assassinate the President when she operates on him. Tate Donovan, Rhys Coiro, Billy Brown, Sandrine Holt, James Naughton, Quinn Shephard and Mateus Ward are co-starring. Nachmanoff has also directed the pilot episode and is executive producing the Warner Bros Television production with Jerry Bruckheimer & Jonathan Littman (CSI, Without a Trace), Omri Givon, Rotem Shamir and Chayim Sharir.

Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the drama Trouble with the Curve directed by Robert Lorenz and starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard and Scott Eastwood. The film’s score is written by Academy Award-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring Beltrami’s score digitally earlier this week. A physical version is scheduled to come out on October 16. Also opening wide is the action thriller End of Watch written and directed by David Ayer and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Anna Kendrick, Natalie Martinez, America Ferrera, Frank Grillo, David Harbour and Cody Horn. David Sardy (21, Zombieland, Premium Rush) has composed the film’s score. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a number of songs from the film including Public Enemy’s new track Harder Than You Think. Jeff Russo to Score ‘Free Ride’
Jeff Russo has signed on to score the indie drama Free Ride. The film is written and direxted by Shana Sosin (Girls! Girls! Girls!) and stars Anna Paquin as an abused single mother in the 1970s who moves to Florida to make a new life for her two daughters. Cam Gigandet, Drea De Matteo, Liana Liberato, Ava Acres, Jeff Hephner and Brit Morgan are co-starring. Paquin is also producing the movie with Susan Dynner and Cerise Hallam Larkin. The film marks the first project of Paquin’s production company SCAMP. Stephen Moyer, Paquin’s husband and co-star on True Blood, is among the drama’s executive producers. Free Ride is currently in post-production.
Jeff Russo to Score ‘Cherry’
Jeff Russo has signed on to score the upcoming indie drama Cherry. The movie is directed by Stephen Elliot and stars James Franco, Heather Graham, Dev Patel, Ashley Hinshaw, Jonny Weston and Lili Taylor. The film centers on a troubled 18-year old girl who moves to San Francisco, where she gets involved in pornography and aligns herself with a cocaine-addicted lawyer. Elliot co-wrote the script with Lorelei Lee and Liz Destro (Explicit Ills) is producing the project. Cherry was shot this summer in San Francisco and has recently entered post-production.
Jeff Russo Scoring ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Pilot
Jeff Russo has recently scored the pilot for the upcoming TV reboot of Charlie’s Angels. Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights), Rachael Taylor (Grey’s Anatomy) and Annie Ilonzeh (Melrose Place) are starring as the new Angels and it has been reported that Robert Wagner providing the voice of Charlie in the show. Ramon Rodriguez has been cast as John Bosley. The reboot is set in Miami, where the three main characters work as private investigators, getting instructions from their boss Charlie, who only communicates through a speaker box. The pilot is written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville). Marcos Siega (The Vampire Diaries) directed the pilot. Drew Barrymore, Leonard Goldberg and Nancy Jovoven, who were all involved in the two Charlie’s Angels feature adaptations are producing the project.
