Jeff Russo (Fargo, The Night Of, Star Trek: Discovery) and Jordan Gagne are composing the score for new Paramount Network limited series Waco. Russo has also composed the main title theme for the show created by John Erick Dowdle & Drew Dowdle (No Escape, Quarantine) and starring Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, John Leguizamo, Andrea Riseborough, Rory Culkin, Melissa Benoist, Paul Sparks, Shea Whigham, Camryn Manheim and Julia Garner. The 6-parter is based on the true story of the 1993 FBI siege of a religious sect in Waco, Texas that resulted in the deadly shoot out and fire. The Dowdle Brothers are also executive producing the drama with Shannon, Kitsch and Salvatore Stabile.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records will release the first soundtrack album for the CBS All Access sci-fi drama Star Trek: Discovery. The album features selections of the original music from the first part of the show’s first season composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Russo (Fargo, Legion, The Night Of, Snowfall, Power). The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 15. A CD and vinyl version is in the works for a 2018 release. Visit Amazon to pre-order the digital version. Star Trek: Discovery is developed by Alex Kurtzman & Bryan Fuller and stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, James Frain, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp. The series is set a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series and follows the crew of the USS Discovery during the Federation-Klingon cold war.
Daniel Hart Scoring Showtime’s ‘SMILF’
Daniel Hart is scoring the new Showtime original series SMILF. The show is created by Frankie Shaw who also stars in the series alongside Miguel Gomez, Rosie O’Donnell and Samara Weaving. The comedy follows a smart, scrappy, young single mom trying to navigate the realities of motherhood with an extremely unconventional family. Shaw is also executive producing the ABC Signature Studios production with Lee Eisenburg & Gene Stupnitsky (Bad Teacher, The Office) and Michael London (Sideways, The Visitor).

CBS has published a behind-the-scenes video featuring the main theme from Star Trek: Discovery. Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein 
won their first Emmy Award for their main titles theme music from the Netflix original series Stranger Things at tonight’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre LA LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles. Jeff Russo received his first Emmy Award for his score from the third season of the FX original series Fargo in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or a Special category. He was previously nominated twice for his work on the show’s first two seasons. Jeff Beal was honored with his fifth Primetime Emmy Award for his score for Netflix’s House of Cards in the Music Composition for a Series category.

The show is set a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series and follows the crew of the USS Discovery during the Federation-Klingon cold war.The series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, James Frain, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp. Alex Kurtzman (The Mummy, Now You See Me) and Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) are executive producing the CBS Television production with Heather Kadin (Scorpion, Sleepy Hollow), Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts (Revenge, Reign), Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend), Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
‘Fargo’ Year 3 Soundtrack Details
Sony Classical will release a new soundtrack album for the FX original series Fargo. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Jeff Russo (Legion, The Night Of, Power, Snowfall) who recently received his third Emmy Award nomination for his work on the drama. Also included is Russo’s & show creator Noah Hawley’s cover version of the song Ship of Fools from the episode The House of Special Purpose. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on August 4, 2017 and is now available for pre-order here. The label has previously released two soundtracks featuring Russo’s score from Season 1 & 2, as well as an album featuring the songs from the second season.

The line-up for two film music-related panels at Comic-Con 2017 has been announced. On Friday, July 21, a number of film/Tv composers will participate in the 9th annual Behind the Music panel presented by CW3PR and Impact24 PR. Jeff Russo (Legion, Fargo), Sean Callery (Jessica Jones, 24), Kris Bowers (Dear White People), Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story), Siddhartha Khosla (This Is Us, Runaways) and Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Riverdale) will be participating in a discussion moderated by actors Rachel Keller (Legion, Fargo) & Jeremie Harris (Legion,The Get Down). The composers will give insight on how they contribute to many of the most popular fantasy/fiction titles in the TV and film worlds.
