The only new movie opening nationwide this week is the psychological thriller Joker directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Marc Maron, and Shea Whigham. The film’s original music is composed by Hildur Gudnadottir (Chernobyl, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mary Magdalene). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Opening in limited release is the sci-fi drama Lucy in the Sky directed by Noah Hawley and starring Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, Dan Stevens, Colman Domingo, Pearl Amanda Dickson and Ellen Burstyn. Jeff Russo Scoring Apple TV+’s ‘For All Mankind’

Jeff Russo is composing the original music for the upcoming Apple TV+ original series For All Mankind. The show is created by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander), Matt Wolpert & Ben Nedivi and stars Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Wrenn Schmidt, Shantel VanSanten, Sarah Jones and Jodi Balfour. The sci-fi drama is told through the lives of NASA astronauts, engineers and their families and presents an aspirational world where NASA and the space program remained a priority and a focal point of our hopes and dreams.

‘Lucy in the Sky’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack album for Noah Hawley’s sci-fi drama Lucy in the Sky. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Russo (Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Of, The Umbrella Academy, The Act) who has previously collaborated with Hawley on FX’s Fargo and Legion, among other projects. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 4, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Lucy in the Sky is co-written and directed by Hawley and stars Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, Dan Stevens, Colman Domingo, Pearl Amanda Dickson and Ellen Burstyn. The movie centers on a strong woman whose determination and drive as an astronaut take her to space, where she’s deeply moved by the transcendent experience of seeing her life from afar.

Jeff Russo & Jordan Gagne Scoring USA’s ‘Treadstone’

Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Of, Legion, The Umbrella Academy) and Jordan Gagne (The Rookie) are teaming up to score the upcoming USA original series Treadstone. Russo has also composed the show’s main title theme. The drama is developed by Tim Kring (Heroes, Dig) based on the Bourne features and stars Jeremy Irvine, Michelle Forbes, Patrick Fugit, Michael Gaston, Shruti Haasan, Hyo Joo Han, Tess Haubrich and Tracy Ifeachor. The thriller is set amidst the CIA black ops program Operation: Treadstone and explores both the origin of the infamous covert program, as well as connecting to present-day special ops.

Jeff Russo to Score CBS All Access’ ‘Star Trek: Picard’

Jeff Russo has been confirmed as the composer of the upcoming CBS All Access original series Star Trek: Picard. The show stars Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation and several movies, including Star Trek Generations, First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis. Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway and Evan Evagora are co-starring in the drama, which will follow Picard into the next chapter of his life. Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek Into Darkness, Now You See Me), Michael Chabon (John Carter, Wonder Boys), Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend), James Duff (The Closer), Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and Stewart are executive producing the CBS Television Studios production.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Details

Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the CBS All Access original series Star Trek: Discovery. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Russo (Fargo, Legion, The Night Of, The Act, Mile 22, Counterpart). Also included are three tracks from Russo’s score for Short Treks. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 19 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical version is also in the works. The label has previously released two soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music from the series’ first season.

Premiering tonight is the new AMC original series NOS4A2 developed by Jami O’Brien based on Joe Hill’s novel and starring Ashleigh Cummings, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Virginia Kull, Jahkara Smith and Zachary Quinto. The show’s original music is composed by Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, Enemy, The Gift, Ozark, Fear the Walking Dead, Martha Marcy May Marlene). Jeff Russo Scoring NBC’s ‘The InBetween’

Jeff Russo is the composer of the new NBC drama The InBetween. The show is created by Moira Kirland (Castle, Madam Secretary) and stars Harriet Dyer, Justin Cornwell, Anne-Marie Johnson, Cindy Luna, Chad James Buchanan and Paul Blackthorne. The drama revolves around a woman who communicates with the dead and helps to solve murder cases. Kirland is also executive producing the Universal Television, NBCU International Television Studio and Heyday Television production with David Heyman (Harry Potter series, Gravity, Paddington), Nancy Cotton, Matthew Gross (Across the Universe, Body of Proof), as well as Charlotte Sieling (The Man) who also directed the pilot episode.

Premiering tomorrow, March 18, is the new ABC drama The Fix created by Elizabeth Craft, Sarah Fain & Marcia Clark and starring Robin Tunney, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje and Scott Cohen. The show’s original music is composed by Gregory Tripi (Ma, Manhunt: Unabomber, Dark Places, Rememory). Also premiering tomorrow is the documentary The Inventor: Out For Blood In Silicon Valley directed by Alex Gibney about the rise and fall of Theranos, the one-time multibillion-dollar healthcare company founded by Elizabeth Holmes. Will Bates (The Looming Tower, The Path, I Origins, The Magicians) has composed the film’s original music. Jeff Russo (Fargo, Legion, Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Of) is the composer of the new Hulu original series The Act. The show is created by Nick Antosca & Michelle Dean based on an original Buzzfeed article by Dean and stars Patricia Arquette, Joey King, Chloë Sevigny, AnnaSophia Robb and Calum Worthy. The first season of the anthology series follows a girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother and opens a Pandora’s box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder. Antosca (The Forest) & Dean are also executive producing the project with Greg Shephard and Britton Rizzio (American Ultra).
