The only new movie opening nationwide this week is the psychological thriller Joker directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Marc Maron, and Shea Whigham. The film’s original music is composed by Hildur Gudnadottir (Chernobyl, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mary Magdalene). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Opening in limited release is the sci-fi drama Lucy in the Sky directed by Noah Hawley and starring Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, Dan Stevens, Colman Domingo, Pearl Amanda Dickson and Ellen Burstyn. Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Of, Legion, The Umbrella Academy) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Dolemite Is My Name’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the biographical comedy Dolemite Is Ny Name. The album features the film’s original music composed by Scott Bomar (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, Mississippi Grind). Also included are songs performed by cast members Eddie Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Craig Robinson, as well as tracks by The Bo-Keys, Bobby Rush and Jason Freeman feat. Blind Mississippi Morris. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 4 and will be available to download and stream here. Dolemite Is My Name is directed by Craig Brewer and stars Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Keegan-Michael Key, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Scott Bomar Scoring Craig Brewer’s ‘Dolemite Is My Name’

Scott Bomar has recently composed the original score for the upcoming biographical comedy drama Dolemite Is My Name. The film is directed by Craig Brewer (Footloose) and stars Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Tituss Burgess and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. The movie tells the life story of Rudy Ray Moore, a “larger than life” comedian, musician, singer, actor, and film producer in the 1970s who – when he couldn’t get work in Hollywood – simply created his own – including the most well-known Blaxploitation film of all time, Dolemite. Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, The People v. Larry Flynt) wrote the screenplay.
