Craig Wedren is reteaming with director David Wain on the upcoming Netflix original movie A Futile & Stupid Gesture. The film stars Will Forte as National Lampoon co-founder Douglas Kenney, alongside Domhnall Gleeson, Joel McHale, Emmy Rossum, Matt Walsh, Martin Mull, Thomas Lennon, Matt Lucas, Seth Green, Jackie Tohn, Natasha Lyonne, Elvy Yost, John Gemberling, Rick Glassman, Camille Guaty and Jon Daly. The biopic is based on Josh Karp’s 2006 book of the same title and centers on the life and career of Kenney. Michael Colton and John Aboud (Penguins of Madagascar, The Comebacks) wrote the screenplay. Peter Principato (Central Intelligence, Keanu) and Jonathan Stern (Childrens Hospital) are producing the project.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the thriller The Circle written and directed by James Ponsoldt and starring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Patton Oswalt, Bill Paxton, Karen Gillan and Ellar Coltrane. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland). Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a cover version of Shaker’s Simple Gifts recorded for the movie by Jónsi. ‘How to Be a Latin Lover’ Soundtrack Announced
The details of the soundtrack album for the comedy How to Be a Latin Lover have been revealed. The album features the songs from the movie, including tracks by Jungle Fire, The Vanguards, Gaby Moreno, Iris Cepeda, Solomon Burke. The movie’s composer Craig Wedren also worked on several of the songs. The soundtrack will be released on April 28, 2017 by Nacional Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Craig Wedren to Score Netflix’s ‘GLOW’
Craig Wedren has signed on to score the upcoming Netflix original series GLOW. The show is created by Liz Flahive (Adult Beginners, Nurse Jackie) & Carly Mensch (Orange Is The New Black) and stars Alison Brie, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, Britney Young, Sydelle Noel, Britt Baron, Jackie Tohn, Kimmy Gatewood, Rebekka Johnson, Kate Nash, Sunita Mani and Kia Stevens. The comedy is set in 1980s Los Angeles and revolves around an unemployed actress who keeps her dream alive by portraying a female wrestler.

Premiering tonight is the Fox drama 24: Legacy executive produced by Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, Evan Katz, Manny Coto, Stephen Hopkins & Kiefer Sutherland and starring Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits, Teddy Sears, Dan Bucatinsky, Anna Diop and Ashley Thomas. Craig Wedren is scoring the upcoming comedy How to Be a Latin Lover. The film marks Ken Marino’s feature directorial debut and stars Eugenio Derbez, Rob Lowe, Kristen Bell, Salma Hayek, Raquel Welch, Rob Riggle, McKenna Grace, Michael Cera, Renee Taylor, Rob Huebel, Michaela Watkins and Linda Lavin. The movie follows an aging Latin lover who is forced to return to live with his estranged sister and her young son after being dumped by his sugar mama. Chris Spain and Jon Zack (The Perfect Score, Out Cold) have written the screenplay.
‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Soundtrack Released
Rusted Wave has released a soundtrack album for David Wain’s 2001 cult comedy Wet Hot American Summer. The album features the film’s original music composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Ghostbusters, Tropic Thunder, St. Vincent) and Craig Wedren (School of Rock, Role Models). Also included are the songs from the film written by both composers, as well as Mr. Blue & Chubb Rock’s Summer in America, as well as Peter Salett’s end titles song. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes. A vinyl edition is set to be released on July 22, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Wet Hot American Summer is created by Wain and Michael Showalter who also stars in the film alongside Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Zak Orth, and A. D. Miles.

Opening in most theaters is the dramatic thriller Money Monster directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jack O’Connell, Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitriona Balfe. The film’s original score is composed by Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Free Birds) and produced by Henry Jackman. The Darkness (previously entitled 6 Miranda Drive) follows two families who return from a summer camping trip in the Grand Canyon with a supernatural presence in tow. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the psychological thriller The Invitation. The album features the film’s original music composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Tropic Thunder, St. Vincent). Also included are two original songs by Craig Wedren & Benjamin Newgard. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on April 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Invitation is directed by Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, Jennifer’s Body) and stars Logan Marshall-Green, Tammy Blanchard, Michiel Huisman, Emayatzy Corinealdi and John Carroll Lynch. The movie follows a haunted man attending a dinner party who becomes gripped with paranoia that his ex-wife and her new husband are harboring an insidious agenda.
