Craig Wedren has been tapped to score the upcoming Starz original series Blunt Talk. The show is created by Jonathan Ames (Bored to Death, The Extra Man) and stars Patrick Stewart, Jacki Weaver, Adrian Scarborough, Dolly Wells, Timm Sharp and Richard Lewis. The comedy centers around Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news and the fallout from his well-intentioned, but mostly misguided decision-making, both on and off the air. Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy, American Dad) is executive producing the Media Rights Capital (MRC) production with Ames, Tristram Shapeero (Community) and Stephanie Davis (The Starter Wife).

Premiering on Wednesday, July 15 is the TV Land original series The Jim Gaffigan Show created by Gaffigan who also stars in the show alongside Ashley Williams, Adam Goldberg and Michael Ian Black. The show’s original music is composed by Chris Alan Lee (Younger, Mulaney, Better Off Ted). The comedy is inspired by Gaffigan’s real life and chronicles one man’s struggle in New York City to find a balance between fatherhood, stand-up comedy and an insatiable appetite. Craig Wedren to Return for Netflix’s ‘Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp’
Craig Wedren is scoring the upcoming Netflix original series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. The show is directed by David Wain is a prequel to the original film and tells the story of the first day of Camp Firewood’s famous summer season. Elizabeth Banks, Bradley Cooper, Michael Ian Black, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Christopher Meloni, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, and Michael Showalter are reprising their roles from the 2001 film. They are joined by Jon Hamm, Chris Pine, Jason Schwartzman, Kristen Wiig, Lake Bell, Paul Scheer, John Slattery Rob Huebel and Randall Park.

Jared Faber (Suborgatory, As Told by Ginger) is composing the show’s original music. Selfie follows a self-obsessed twentysomething who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked. NBC’s ‘A to Z’ to Feature Music by Craig Wedren
Craig Wedren has been hired to score the new NBC comedy A to Z. The show is created by Ben Queen (Drive, Cars 2) and stars Ben Feldman, Cristin Milioti, Henry Zebrowski, Lenora Crichlow, Christina Kirk and Hong Chau. Katey Sagal is narrating the series, which follows the relationship between a male employee at an internet dating site and a female no-nonsense lawyer, from meeting to breakup. Queen is also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television and Le Train Train production with Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation), Will McCormack (Celeste & Jesse Forever), Bill Callahan (Psych) and Michael Patrick Jann (Reno 911!). A to Z is set to premiere on October 2, 2014 and will air every Thursday night on NBC.
‘Search Party’ to Feature Music by Craig Wedren
Craig Wedren has composed the score for the upcoming comedy Search Party. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter/producer Scot Armstrong (Old School, Road Trip, Starsky & Hutch) and stars T.J. Miller, Adam Pally, Thomas Middleditch, Lance Reddick, Shannon Woodward, Alison Brie and Krysten Ritter. The movie centers around two roommates who go to serious lengths to save their friend who is stranded somewhere in Mexico. Armstrong has also co-written the screenplay with Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller. Paul Brooks (Pitch Perfect, Life As We Know It, Slither) is producing the project for Gold Circle Films, alongside Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious series, I Am Legend, 21 Jump Street) for Original Film, as well as Armstrong and Ravi Nandan for American Work.

Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action adventure Transformers: Age of Extinction directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles, Bingbing Li, Titus Welliver and TJ Miller. The film’s original music is composed by Steve Jablonsky (Ender’s Game, Battleship) who previously scored Bay’s last five features, including the previous three Transformers movies. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is expected to be announced soon. Imagine Dragons have written the original song Battle Cry for the film, which is now available to download as a single here. Opening in Los Angeles and New York before expanding nationwide is the musical comedy drama Begin Again written and directed by John Carney and starring Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfeld, James Corden, Ceelo Green and Catherine Keener. 222 Records in partnership with Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film written by Gregg Alexander, who also provided the film’s original score, as well as Danielle Brisebois, Nick Lashley, Nick Southwood, Rick Nowels, John Carney and Glen Hansard and performed by the film’s cast. ‘They Came Together’ Soundtrack EP Released
Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack EP for David Wain’s romantic comedy They Came Together. The EP features the original songs from the film by Craig Wedren who also co-scored the movie with Matt Novack and previously collaborated with the director on such films as Role Models, Wanderlust and Wet Hot American Summer. Among the songs is the original track It Was the Last Thing On Your Mind, which is performed on screen by Norah Jones. Other artists featured on the release are Amy Miles, Pink Ape, Keisha Renee and Reyna Wakefield. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips. They Came Together is co-written by Wain & Michael Showalter and stars Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Cobie Smulders, Christopher Meloni, Max Greenfield, Bill Hader, Ellie Kemper, Jason Mantzoukas, Melanie Lynskey and Ed Helms.

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the fantasy adventure Maleficent directed by Robert Stromberg and starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley, Imelda Staunton, Sam Riley, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville. James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth Sense) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as a new cover version of the song Once Upon a Dream by Lana Del Rey.
