Academy Awards show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today that Adam Levine will be performing the original song Lost Stars from Begin Again at this year’s Oscars ceremony on February 22. The song written by New Radicals’ Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois is one of the five nominees in the Best Original Song category. Levine who is best known as the lead singer for the group Maroon 5 also made his feature film acting debut in the film directed by John Carney and also starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. The 87th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.

Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action adventure Transformers: Age of Extinction directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles, Bingbing Li, Titus Welliver and TJ Miller. The film’s original music is composed by Steve Jablonsky (Ender’s Game, Battleship) who previously scored Bay’s last five features, including the previous three Transformers movies. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is expected to be announced soon. Imagine Dragons have written the original song Battle Cry for the film, which is now available to download as a single here. ‘Begin Again’ Soundtrack Announced
Adam Levine’s label 222 Records has announced a partnership with Interscope Records to release the official soundtrack album for the comedy drama Begin Again. The album features the songs from the film co-written by Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois, Nick Lashley, Nick Southwood, Rick Nowels, John Carney and Glen Hansard and performed by the film’s cast. The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Begin Again written and directed by John Carney (Once) stars Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfeld, James Corden, Ceelo Green and Catherine Keener. The movie follows a songwriter who comes to the States with her singer boyfriend, only to catch him philandering with a record company executive. The dramedy produced by Anthony Bregman, Tobin Armbrust and Judd Apatow premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on June 27, 2014 by the Weinstein Company.
