Brian Tyler has signed on to score the upcoming romantic comedy What Men Want. The film is directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Bringing Down the House, A Walk to Remember) and stars Taraji P. Henson, Tracy Morgan, Aldis Hodge, Max Greenfield and Wendi McLendon-Covey. The movie is inspired by Nancy Meyers’ 2000 feature What Women Want (scored by Alan Silvestri) and follows a female sports agent who has been constantly boxed out by her male colleagues when she gains the power to hear men’s thoughts.

Brian Tyler to Score Paramount Network’s ‘Yellowstone’
Brian Tyler has been tapped to score the upcoming Paramount Network original series Yellowstone. The show is created by Taylor Sheridan (Wind River, Sicario, Hell or High Water) and stars Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Dave Annable, Danny Huston, Gil Birmingham, Jefferson White, Gretchen Mol, Jill Hennessey, Patrick St. Esprit, Ian Bohen and Denim Richards. The drama revolves around the violent world of the Dutton family, owners of the largest ranch in the United States.
Brian Tyler’s ‘Formula 1’ Theme Released
The new Formula 1 theme composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Now You See Me, The Mummy, Thor: The Dark World) has been released as a digital single. The composer recorded the theme with the Philharmonia Orchestra a few weeks ago at AIR Studios in London. Visit Amazon to download the track. The piece was reportedly commissioned by F1’s David Hill and will be featured on the new F1 OTT service that was announced earlier this month.
Brian Tyler to Score Stephanie Soechtig’s ‘The Devil We Know’
Brian Tyler is reteaming with director Stephanie Soechtig on the upcoming documentary The Devil We Know. The movie centers on one of the biggest environmental scandals of our time, as a group of citizens in West Virginia take on a powerful corporation after they discover it has knowingly been dumping a toxic chemical – now found in the blood of 99.7% of Americans – into the local drinking water supply. Soechtig (Fed Up) is also producing the project with Kristin Lazure, Joshua Kunau and Carly Palmour. Tyler has previously collaborated with filmmaker on the 2016 documentary Under the Gun.
Brian Tyler to Score Jon M. Chu’s ‘Crazy Rich Asians’
Brian Tyler has been hired to score the upcoming romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians. The film is directed by Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Step Up 2: The Streets) and stars Constance Wu, Michelle Yeoh, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, Harry Shum Jr. and Awkwafina. The movie is based on Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same title and follows a Chinese-American economics professor and her boyfriend, who happens to be the heir to a massive fortune. Peter Chiarelli (The Proposal) and Adele Lim (Lethal Weapon) wrote the screenplay. Nina Jacobson (The Hunger Games), Brad Simpson (American Crime Story, Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and John Penotti are producing the project.
‘Bronx Gothic’ Soundtrack Announced
Little Twig Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Bronx Gothic. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ian Hultquist (Animal, My Blind Brother, The Diabolical). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 14, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Bronx Gothic is directed by Andrew Rossi who previously collaborated with the composer on last year’s First Monday in May and follows actor, dancer, writer, performance artist, singer Okwui Okpokwasili as she stages a final tour for her one-woman show, “Bronx Gothic.”
5th Annual Superhero Music Panel at Comic-Con Announced
The line-up of the 5th Annual Musical Anatomy of a Superhero panel has been announced. A number of Hollywood film and TV composers will explain the process and challenges of creating the musical voice behind the superhero and their environment as well as collaborating with the director, producers and the franchise. Participating composers include Marco Beltrami who recently scored James Mangold’s Logan, and has previously scored comic book movies including The Wolverine, Fantastic Four and Hellboy, Brian Tyler whose superhero film credits include Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3 and Ludwig Goransson who is making his scoring debut in the genre on Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure The Mummy directed by Alex Kurtzman and starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. The film’s original music is composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Now You See Me, Thor: The Dark World). Back Lot Music has released a digital deluxe edition soundtrack today and will release a CD version next week. Also opening wide is the horror thriller It Comes at Night written and directed by Trey Edward Shults and starring Joel Edgerton, Christopher Abbott, Carmen Ejogo, Riley Keough and Kelvin Harrion Jr. Brian McOmber (Krisha, A Teacher, Ugly) has composed the film’s original music. The details of the soundtrack album for the action adventure The Mummy have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious series, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Now You See Me, Thor: The Dark World). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 9, 2017 by Back Lot Music and will be available to download here. A CD version will be released on June 16 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman and stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. The film centers around an ancient princess who is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.

In addition to the nationwide expansion of Gifted, the only nationwide release this week is the action sequel The Fate of the Furious directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges. Robert Duncan (Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Timeless, The Unit, Terriers) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album is in the works and will be announced soon. Spark is inspired the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West and follows a teenage monkey who leads a space expedition to save the planet from a cruel dictator.
