Brian Tyler has been hired to score the horror sequel Final Destination 5. He previously scored the fourth part of the franchise The Final Destination, which was the first one released in 3D and turned out to be the highest grossing entry in the series. Final Destination 5 marks the live action feature directing debut for Steven Quale, who previously co-directed the 2005 documentary Aliens of the Deep alongside James Cameron. The film stars Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd and David Koechner. The new movie follows the concept of the previous parts and sees a new batch of victims, co-workers on a corporate retreat, escaping the collapse of a city’s suspension bridge. The movie marks Tyler’s second score in the Final Destination series. The late Shirley Walker scored the first three movies.

‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Soundtrack details
Varese Sarabande Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the upcoming sci-fi action film Battle: Los Angeles. The album includes 22 tracks of Brian Tyler’s score for the movie directed by Jonathan Liebesman. Visit the official movie webpage, where several audio clips from the score can be heard. The album will be released on March 8, 2011 and can be pre-ordered at Amazon. The movie starring Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan and Michelle Rodriquez is opening on March 11.
Brian Tyler to score ‘Fast Five’
As previously announced by the composer, Brian Tyler has been hired to score the upcoming action sequel Fast Five. The movie marks Brian Tyler’s and director Justin Lin’s third film in the series after The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and last year’s Fast & Furious. The film’s cast includes Vin Diesel, Paul Walker Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Ludacris Bridges and Dwayne Johnson. In Fast Five, Dominic (Diesel) and his crew find themselves on the wrong side of the law once again as they try to switch lanes between a ruthless drug lord and a relentless federal agent. Brian Tyler slated to score Terra Nova
Brian Tyler has been chosen to compose the music for the prehistoric drama TV pilot Terra Nova for Amblin Entertainment. The show will be produced by Steven Spielberg and Brannon Braga. The TV show centers on the Shannons, an ordinary family from 2149 when the planet is dying who are transported back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth where they join Terra Nova, a colony of humans with a second chance to build a civilization. The show’s cast includes Jason O’Mara, Shelley Conn and Stephen Lang. No word yet on how much Tyler will be involved in the series after scoring the pilot. The current plan for the show is to preview the pilot in May 2011 with the series debuting in the fall on FOX.
Djawadi to take over Red Dawn
Ramin Djawadi has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming Red Dawn remake from Brian Tyler who was originally assigned to score the movie. In the movie directed by Dan Bradley, a group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of Chinese and Russian soldiers. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Adrienne Palicki and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The MGM movie was originally scheduled to come out later this year, but according to recent reports, the movie has been put on an indefinite hold given the financial situation of the studio, but none of the reports have been confirmed.
Brian Tyler to score Hawaii Five-O
Brian Tyler has been hired to score the pilot of the TV show Hawaii Five-O. The show is based on the classic TV show from the 60’s with the same name revolving around an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police. The show’s cast include Daniel Dae Kim, Alex O’Loughlin, Grace Park, James Marsters and Scott Caan. The show will be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, who wrote and produced episodes of Fringe and Alias and wrote such features as The Island, Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek and both Transformers movies. They also produced the DJ Caruso-directed Eagle Eye, which was scored by Brian Tyler. Hawaii Five-O will air on CBS starting this fall if it gets picked up. No information yet on Tyler’s involvement in the show if it goes on air.
Tyler to score Skyline
According to the Gorfaine/Schwartz agency, Brian Tyler has joined the horror thriller Skyline. The project reunites Tyler with directors Colin and Greg Strause who previously worked together on AVPR: Aliens vs Predator – Requiem. The movie is starring Donald Faison and Eric Balfour and is being shot right now. Apart from composing duties, Tyler will also serve as an executive producer and sound supervisor on the movie.
Also coming up for Tyler is the Sly Stallone-directed action movie The Expendables, Red Dawn and Battle: Los Angeles. He also has the George Gallo-directed movies Columbus Circle (which he’s also producing), as well as Middle Men coming up. The latter recently premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and was picked up by Paramount Pictures for release later this year.
