La-La Land Records has released a soundtrack album for the sci-fi adventure series Terra Nova. The album features selections from the show’s original score composed by Brian Tyler (Fast Five, Eagle Eye, The Expendables). The composer recorded his score for the full season with a full orchestra. The 2-CD set is limited to 3000 copies and is available to order on the label’s website, where you can also listen to audio clips. Terra Nova executive produced by Brannon Braga and Steven Spielberg and starring Jason O’Mara, Shelly Conn, Stephen Lang, Christine Adams, Allison Miller, Landon Liboiron, Naomi Scott, Rod Hallett and Alana Mansour premiered last fall on FOX. The complete series about a family that travels 85 million years into the past to an Earth of a parallel Universe is now available on DVD.

Fall 2011 Television Music Roundup (Part 1): FOX
Following our television music series from the summer, Film Music Reporter presents a listing of this fall’s new network dramas and comedies and its composers, as well as the major new cable shows of the season that feature original music. Featured in part 1 are the shows on FOX. Articles for all other networks will be published within the next few weeks.
Currently finishing up its premiere season is the sci-fi adventure show Terra Nova produced by Steven Spielberg and Brannon Braga and starring Jason O’Mara, Stephen Lang, Shelley Conn, Landon Liboiron and Naomi Scott. Brian Tyler is the composer of all 13 episodes of the first season. Two videos from the orchestral recording sessions of the score on the Fox Scoring Stage can be checked out on YouTube (Cycles of Time and Magical Journey). Brian Tyler to Score D.J. Caruso’s ‘The Goats’ and ‘John Dies at the End’
Brian Tyler is set to reunite with director D.J. Caruso on the upcoming indie drama The Goats. The movie written and directed by Caruso is based on the young adult novel by Brock Cole and stars Chandler Canterbury and Annalise Basso as kids at summer camp who fall victims to a prank that leaves them stranded at Goat Island. Val Kilmer, Radha Mitchell and Kate Maberly are co-starring in the film produced by Alexander Rodnyansky and Geyer Kosinski (School for Scoundrels). Tyler and Caruso have previously collaborated on the 2009 action thriller Eagle Eye starring Shia LaBeouf.
Brian Tyler Scoring ‘Brake’
Brian Tyler has recently scored the upcoming indie production Brake. The film is directed by Gabe Torres who previously collaborated with Tyler on the composer’s first feature film Bartender. Nathan West and James Walker are producing and James Mathers (The U.S. vs. John Lennon) is the film’s cinematographer. Not much is known yet about the movie, but production on the film has recently been finished and the project is screening for buyers this month. In a recent interview with the Australian website TheVine, Tyler mentioned that his score for Brake is purely electronic.
Brian Tyler slated to score Terra Nova
Brian Tyler has been chosen to compose the music for the prehistoric drama TV pilot Terra Nova for Amblin Entertainment. The show will be produced by Steven Spielberg and Brannon Braga. The TV show centers on the Shannons, an ordinary family from 2149 when the planet is dying who are transported back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth where they join Terra Nova, a colony of humans with a second chance to build a civilization. The show’s cast includes Jason O’Mara, Shelley Conn and Stephen Lang. No word yet on how much Tyler will be involved in the series after scoring the pilot. The current plan for the show is to preview the pilot in May 2011 with the series debuting in the fall on FOX.
