Brian Tyler is set to reunite with director D.J. Caruso on the upcoming indie drama The Goats. The movie written and directed by Caruso is based on the young adult novel by Brock Cole and stars Chandler Canterbury and Annalise Basso as kids at summer camp who fall victims to a prank that leaves them stranded at Goat Island. Val Kilmer, Radha Mitchell and Kate Maberly are co-starring in the film produced by Alexander Rodnyansky and Geyer Kosinski (School for Scoundrels). Tyler and Caruso have previously collaborated on the 2009 action thriller Eagle Eye starring Shia LaBeouf. Principal photography on The Goats has recently started and the film is expected to be released in 2012.
Tyler is also reuniting with director Don Cascarelli on the indie horror film John Dies at the End. They have previously worked together on one of the composer’s first feature projects Bubba Ho-Tep. John Dies at the End is based on the novel by David Wong and stars Paul Giamatti, Chase Williamson, Rob Mayes and Clancy Brown. The film centers on two losers in their twenties who gain extra sensory perception via a substance called Soy Sauce, a black liquid that acts like a potent drug, but seemingly has a mind of its own. The composer is currently scoring the FOX sci-fi show Terra Nova. The show produced by Steven Spielberg and Brannon Braga and starring Jason O’Mara, Stephen Lang, Shelley Conn, Landon Liboiron and Naomi Scott premiered last month and is currently airing every Monday night on Fox. Finally, it has just been announced by Sledgehammer Games’ Glen Schofield on Twitter that Brian Tyler has also written the music for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the eighth title in the Call of Duty series. The video game is set to be released on November 8, 2011. The previous Modern Warfare games were scored by Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe.
