Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters this week is the horror sequel Final Destination 5 directed by Steven Quale and starring Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd and David Koechner. The film’s score is composed by Brian Tyler who is scoring his second movie in the horror series. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be released on August 16 by Varese Sarabande. Already in theaters since Wednesday is the drama The Help directed by Tate Taylor and starring Emma Stone, Allison Janney, Sissy Spacek, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Mike Vogel Jessica Chastain and Cicely Tyson. Thomas Newman has written the score for the movie. Varese Sarabande will release the score on September 13 as reported here. A soundtrack featuring songs from the movie, including Mary J. Blige’s The Living Proof is available on Geffen/Interscope Records (click here for audio clips and more details).

‘Final Destination 5’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the horror sequel Final Destination 5. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler and the album includes 19 track of the composer’s score. The soundtrack will be released on August 16, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Final Destination 5 is directed by Steven Quale and stars Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd and David Koechner. The movie sees a new batch of victims, co-workers on a corporate retreat, escaping the collapse of a city’s suspension bridge.

Varese Sarabande has announced two new soundtrack releases for upcoming horror movies. First up is the soundtrack for the 3D horror sequel Final Destination 5. The album includes the film’s music composed by Brian Tyler who is scoring his second Final Destination movie. The soundtrack will be released on August 9, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full details on the release. Final Destination 5 is directed by Steven Quale and stars Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd and David Koechner. Brian Tyler Scoring ‘Brake’

Brian Tyler has recently scored the upcoming indie production Brake. The film is directed by Gabe Torres who previously collaborated with Tyler on the composer’s first feature film Bartender. Nathan West and James Walker are producing and James Mathers (The U.S. vs. John Lennon) is the film’s cinematographer. Not much is known yet about the movie, but production on the film has recently been finished and the project is screening for buyers this month. In a recent interview with the Australian website TheVine, Tyler mentioned that his score for Brake is purely electronic.

Brian Tyler to Score ‘The Expendables 2’

Gordon and the Whale recently visited Brian Tyler at his studio and interviewed the composer about his work on Fast Five, currently playing in theaters. Tyler also talks about his work process, how his career developed over the last decade and some of his frequent collaborators including Justin Lin, Jonathan Liebesman and Sylvester Stallone. Check out the full video interview after the jump. During the interview, the composer confirms his involvement in the upcoming The Expendables 2, the sequel to last summer’s action hit. The project is still in pre-production and current reports indicate that Stallone won’t return to direct and only will be acting in the film. The sequel script is written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboys, The Missing).

Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Expecting to enjoy the biggest box office debut of the year so far is the action sequel Fast Five. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler. Check out our news entry from yesterday for a video interview with Tyler and recording sessions footage from the project. A score album will be released next Tuesday by Varese Sarabande and is already available on iTunes and a song album with three score cues is coming out on ABCKO Records.

Also opening wide is the teen comedy Prom directed by Joe Nussbaum. The film’s score is by Deborah Lurie. As reported earlier this month, a soundtrack with songs from the movie has been released by Hollywood Records, but none of Lurie’s original score is included.

Brian Tyler on ‘Fast Five’

Reelz Channel uploaded a new video feature today on Brian Tyler’s music for Fast Five. The composer is interviewed about his score on the action sequel and the video also offers footage from the recording sessions of the score. Tyler also recently uploaded a video from the orchestra and drumming recording of the track Fast Five from the score soundtrack album, which will be released by Varese Sarabande Records on May 3, 2011. ‘Fast Five’ Score Album Details

Varese Sarabande Records has announced the details of the score soundtrack release of the action sequel Fast Five. The album features around 75 minutes of Brian Tyler’s original score from the film and will be released on May 3, 2011.  To pre-order the album, visit Amazon. As previously reported, a separate soundtrack with songs from the movie and three score cues by Tyler will be released on the same day by ABKCO Records.

‘Fast Five’ Soundtrack Status

ABKCO Records has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming action film Fast Five. The soundtrack includes songs from such artists as Ludacris, Don Omar featuring Busta Rhymes and Hybrid. Also featured are three score tracks by composer Brian Tyler, including a suite from the score. To pre-order the album, which is scheduled to come out on May 3, 2011, visit Amazon. Check out audio clips from the soundtrack below. A separate score album featuring Tyler’s music has already be announced to be released on the same day by Varese Sarabande Records. Details on the score album will be revealed later this month. Fast Five is directed by Justin Lin and stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Ludacris Bridges and Dwayne Johnson.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Battle: Los Angeles starring Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan, Michael Pena and Michelle Rodriquez and directed by Jonathan Liebesman is expected to be the number one movie of the weekend at the domestic box office. The film’s music is written by Brian Tyler. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album with Tyler’s score (click here to check out our announcement of the soundtrack). Also opening today is Simon Wells’ Mars Needs Moms from Walt Disney Pictures. The film marks John Powell’s first out of four scores for animated movies to be released this year.
