Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album featuring two early television scores composed by Academy Award winner John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) who received his first two Emmy Awards for the projects. The album features the composer’s remastered and slightly expanded original music from the 1968 NBC movie Heidi based on the classic novel by Johanna Spyri, directed by Delbert Mann and starring Maximilian Schell, Jean Simmons, Michael Redgrave, Jennifer Edwards and Walter Slezak, as well as a remastered edition of his score from the 1970 TV movie Jane Eyre based on Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel, directed by Mann and starring George C. Scott and Susannah York.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Battle: Los Angeles starring Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan, Michael Pena and Michelle Rodriquez and directed by Jonathan Liebesman is expected to be the number one movie of the weekend at the domestic box office. The film’s music is written by Brian Tyler. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album with Tyler’s score (click here to check out our announcement of the soundtrack). Also opening today is Simon Wells’ Mars Needs Moms from Walt Disney Pictures. The film marks John Powell’s first out of four scores for animated movies to be released this year. ‘Jane Eyre’ Soundtrack details
Sony Classical has announced a soundtrack album for Cary Fukunaga’s upcoming adaptation of Jane Eyre. The album includes the film’s original score by Dario Marianelli featuring violinist Jack Liebeck. The soundtrack will be released on March 8. To pre-order the album, visit Amazon. Dario Marianelli scoring new ‘Jane Eyre’ adaptation
Film Music Reporter has learned that Dario Marianelli has been hired to score Focus Features’ upcoming movie adaptation of Jane Eyre. The movie is directed by Cary Fukunaga, who previously directed 2009’s indie hit Sin Nombre which featured a score by Marcelo Zarvos. The new adaptation stars Mia Wasikowska in the title role, as well as Judi Dench, Michael Fassbender, Jamie Bell and Sally Hawkins. Jane Eyre centers around a mousy governess who softens the heart of her employer and soon discovers that he’s hiding a terrible secret.
