Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for Asif Kapadia’s feature documentary Diego Maradona. The album features the film’s original music composed by Antonio Pinto (City of God, Lord of War, McFarland, USA, Snitch, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind) who has previously scored the filmmaker’s Senna and Amy. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Diego Maradona centers on the career of the celebrated football player who played for S.S.C. Napoli in the 1980s. The documentary premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and has been released in several markets over the last couple of weeks.

Soundtrack Album for ‘The Boy Harnessed the Wind’ to Be Released
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original movie The Boy Harnessed the Wind. The album features the film’s original music composed by Antonio Pinto (City of God, McFarland, USA, Lord of War, Amy, Self/less), as well as the end credits song Lelo Ndakwanitsa written & performed by the composer and Lily Banda. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 8 and will be available to download here. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind marks the feature directorial debut of Chiwetel Ejiofor who also stars in the drama with Maxwell Simba, Aïssa Maïga, Lily Banda, Lemogang Tsipa, Philbert Falakeza, Joseph Marcell and Noma Dumezweni. The movie is inspired by a true story and follows a 13-year-old boy who – inspired by a science book – builds a wind turbine to save his Malawian village from famine.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy A Madea Family Funeral written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry who also stars in the movie with Cassi Davis and Patrice Lovely. Philip White (Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, Nobody’s Fool) has composed the film’s original score and Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses, Lost in Space, Baywatch) has written the themes. Also opening wide is the psychological thriller Greta directed by Neil Jordan and starring Isabelle Huppert, Chloë Grace Moretz, Maika Monroe, Colm Feore and Stephen Rea. The film’s original music is composed by Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans, The Devil’s Backbone). Antonio Pinto (City of God, McFarland, USA, Lord of War) has recently scored the Brazilian biographical drama Marighella. The film marks actor Wagner Moura’s directorial debut and stars Seu Jorge, Adriana Esteves, Bruno Gagliasso, Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos and Humberto Carrão. The movie tells the story of Carlos Marighella, a Marxist Brazilian writer, politician and guerilla fighter who lived during the 20th century and was murdered by the brazilian military dictatorship in 1969.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Chiwetel Ejiofor who also stars in the movie alongside Maxwell Simba, Aïssa Maïga, Lily Banda, Lemogang Tsipa, Philbert Falakeza, Joseph Marcell and Noma Dumezweni. The movie is based on the book of the same title written by William Kamkwamba & Bryan Mealer and tells the story of a 13-year-old boy who helps his village by building a wind turbine after reading about them in a library book. Ejifor also wrote the screenplay.

Antonio Pinto Scoring ‘Amazon Adventure’
Antonio Pinto has composed the score for the upcoming IMAX/Giant Screen production Amazon Adventure. The movie is directed by Mike Slee and stars Calum Finlay, Bege Muniz, Ed Birch, William Postlewaithe, Robert Daws and Louis Patridge. The film tells the true story of Henry Bates, the son of a sock maker, who risked his life in the perilous Amazon in the 1850’s and discovered the “beautiful proof” for the greatest explanation ever put forward for the development of life on earth.
Antonio Pinto to Score James Lapine’s ‘Custody’
Antonio Pinto has been tapped to score the upcoming court room drama Custody. The film is written and directed by James Lapine (Life with Mikey, screenwriter of Into the Woods) and stars Catalina Sandino Moreno, Hayden Panettiere, Viola Davis, Tony Shalhoub, Raul Esparza, Dan Fogler and Ellen Burstyn. The movie follows a single mom who fights the government to keep her two kids after they’re wrongfully put into protective custody. Lapine is also producing the project with Lauren Versel (City Island, The Last Five Years) and Katie Mustard (Shelter, We’ll Never Have Paris).
Stephen Daldry’s ‘Trash’ Soundtrack Details
Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for Stephen Daldry’s drama Trash. The album features the film’s original music composed by Antonio Pinto (City of God, Lord of War, McFarland, USA, Amy, Senna). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 13, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Trash is directed by Daldry (The Hours, The Reader, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close) and stars Martin Sheen, Rooney Mara, Wagner Moura and Selton Mello. The movie follows three trash-picking boys from Rio’s slums who find a wallet and team up with two American missionaries to uncover political corruption while evading the police.
Antonio Pinto to Score ‘Shot Caller’
Antonio Pinto is reteaming with director Ric Roman Waugh on the upcoming thriller Shot Caller. The film stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lake Bell, Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt and Holt McCallany. The movie follows a gangster recently released from prison who is forced to orchestrate a major crime on the streets of Southern California. Waugh has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Michel Litvak (Whiplash, Nightcrawler, Drive) and Matthew Rhodes (Dark Places, Southland Tales) for Bold Films and Jonathan King (Snitch, The Good Doctor) for Participant Media.
