Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the streamer’s German original series The Empress (Die Kaiserin). The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Johannes Lehniger (Nothing Bad Can Happen, Raus),Lisa Morgenstern and Sebastian Damerius (Pelican Blood, Sleep). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. The Empress is created by Katharina Eyssen and stars Devrim Lingnau, Philip Froissant, Melika Foroutan, Johannes Nussbaum, Jördis Triebel, Elisa Schlott, Almila Bagriacik and Wiebke Puls. Rachel Portman (The Cider House Rules, Emma, Chocolat, The Manchurian Candidate, Never Let Me Go) has revealed in a recent interview during the Zurich Film Festival (where she received the Career Achievement Award) that she is set to score the upcoming Showtime original series King Shaka. The show is created by Olu Odebunmi & Tolu Awosika and stars Charmaine Bingwa, Nkeki Obi-Melekwe, Tony Kgoroge, Sindi Dlatu and Bahle Hadebe. The drama tells the story of the Zulu Empire founder Shaka and his unlikely rise to power, uniting multiple tribes across vast stretches of Africa in the early 19th century to transform his power into legend. Alan Howarth (Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, They Live, Halloween II, III & IV, Prince of Darkness, Christine) has released a soundtrack album for the sci-fi thriller Cosmic Dawn. The album features the composer’s original music from the film and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Cosmic Dawn is directed by Jefferson Moneo and stars Camille Rowe, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Joshua Burge, Phil Granger and Antonia Zegers. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the supernatural horror movie Smile written and directed by Parker Finn and starring Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. The film’s original music composed by Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus, Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, The Third Day, National Treasure).
