28th Critics Choice Film Awards Nominations Announced

The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) has announced the film category nominations for the 28th Critics Choice Awards this morning. The film music-related categories are listed below. For a full list of nominations, click here. The awards will be given out on January 15, 2023 at the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards ceremony at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles and will broadcast in the U.S. live on The CW.

The Best Score nominees are:

Alexandre Desplat – Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio
Michael Giacchino – The Batman

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Details

Lakeshore Records will release a second soundtrack album for the NBC drama Law & Order: Organized Crime. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Ruth Barrett (Bodyguard, The Terminal List, Victoria, Collateral, Sanditon, Harry Brown). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, December 16 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s music from Season 1 last month. Law & Order: Organized Crime is created by Dick Wolf and stars Christopher Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Brent Antonello, Ainsley Seiger and Rick Gonzalez. Read the rest of this entry »

Grammy Award-winning composer, singer/songwriter and pianist Emily Bear (The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical) has made her feature film scoring debut on the upcoming family drama Dog Gone. The movie is directed by Stephen Herek (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Critters) and stars Rob Lowe, Johnny Berchtold, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Nick Peine. The film is based on the book by Pauls Toutonghi and tells the story of a young man who embarks on a search with his parents to find his missing dog and give him life-saving medication. ‘Corsage’ Soundtrack EP Released

Because Music has released a soundtrack EP for the biographical drama Corsage. The track 5-track EP features the song She Was by French singer/songwriter Camille (aka Camille Dalmais) in five different versions and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Corsage is written and directed by Marie Kreutzer and stars Vicky Krieps, Florian Teichtmeister, Katharina Lorenz, Alma Hasun, Jeanne Werner and Manuel Rubey. Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, The Orphanage, A Monster Calls, Mama, Crimson Peak, Hercules, Devil) is scoring the upcoming animated feature Mummies. The film marks the feature directorial debut of art director Juan Jesús García Galocha and features the voices of Joe Thomas, Eleanor Tomlinson, Santiago Winder, Celia Imrie, Hugh Bonneville, Dan Starkey, Shakka and Sean Bean. The movie follows the adventures of three Egyptian mummies who live in an underground secret city, hidden in ancient Egypt and end up in present-day London, where they embark on a journey in search of an old ring belonging to the Royal Family. ‘Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia’ Soundtrack Album Released

22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the French animated feature Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia (Ernest et Célestine: Le voyage en Charabie). The album features the film’s original music composed by Vincent Courtois who previously scored the Academy Award-nominated 2012 original movie. Also included is the sequel’s theme song Qu’est-ce qu’on fait de l’amour? co-written (with Courtois & Guillaume le Hénaff) and performed by Pomme (listen to the full track below).  The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia is directed by Julien Chheng & Jean-Christophe Roger and follows the title characters as they are traveling back to Ernest’s home country to fix his broken violin and, upon arriving, discover that all forms of music have been banned there for many years. The film is directed by Michael Lembeck (The Santa Clause 2 & 3, Tooth Fairy) and stars Jerry Trainor, Laura Bell Bundy, Ky Baldwin, Natalie Brandston, Shelby Simmons, Michaela Russell and Fabi Aguirre. The musical reimagining of the 2000 feature of the same title (scored by Steve Bartek) follows a group of kids who are determined to achieve their dreams when their school closes for a snow day. Heather McIntosh (Compliance, The Art of Self-Defense, Z for Zachariah, Partner Track, The Quarry) has composed the original music for the upcoming psychological thriller Cat Person. The film is directed by Susanna Fogel (The Spy Who Dumped Me, Life Partners) and stars Emilia Jones, Nicholas Braun, Geraldine Viswanathan, Hope Davis, Fred Melamed and Isabella Rossellini. The movie is based on a short story by Kristen Roupenian and centers on the brief relationship between a college student working concessions at an arthouse theater and an older frequent moviegoer at the theater.
