Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Marc Streitenfeld will be scoring Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus. The composer’s involvement has been expected given his relationship with the director. Streitenfeld has scored Scott’s previous four movies American Gangster, A Good Year, Body of Lies and last year’s Robin Hood. Prometheus stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster. Very little information has been revealed about the film’s plot so far, but it has been reported that the story will involve a team of scientists whose spaceship gets marooned on a distant planet and that the storyline will be connected to Scott’s 1979 classic Alien. ‘Joyful Noise’ Soundtrack Details

WaterTower Music will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the gospel-choir comedy Joyful Noise. The album includes a score suite by composer Mervyn Warren who is also involved in arranging and producing the film’s songs performed by Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton, Keke Palmer, Kirk Franklin, Jeremy Jordan, Angela Grovey, Ivan Kelley, Jr. and Karen Peck. The soundtrack will be released on January 10, 2012 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album after the jump. Michael Wandmacher is scoring the indie comedy Bachelorette. The film written and directed by Leslye Headland (Terriers) is based on her Off-Broadway play of the same name. The movie stars Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan as three best friends who are invited to act as bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl they called “Pigface” in high school. James Marsden, Adam Scott, Kyle Bornheimer are co-starring. Will Ferrell, Adam McKay & Jessica Elbaum (The Other Guys, Step Brothers) are producing the Gary Sanchez Productions film with Brice Dal Farra, Claude Dal Farra & Lauren Munsch (Higher Ground) of BCDF Pictures. Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for the epic drama Black Gold. The album features the original score from the movie by James Horner and marks the composer’s first new release since 2010’s The Karate Kid. The soundtrack will be released on February 7, 2012 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details in a few weeks. As previously reported, the music was recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios and Horner worked with Quatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi on the picture’s opening track. Black Gold is directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and stars Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim, Freida Pinto and Liya Kebede. The movie premiered at the Doha Film Festival in October and has already been released in a couple of countries, including France in the last couple of weeks. Hans Zimmer to Score Ron Howard’s ‘Rush’

Hans Zimmer is set to score the upcoming racing drama Rush. The film is directed by Ron Howard and stars Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Bruhl, Olivia Wilde and Alexandra Maria Lara. The movie centers on the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda and their Formula One racing teams, McLaren and Ferrari during the 1975/76 season, as both were pushed to the breaking point of their psychological and physical endurance. Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) is writing the screenplay and is also producing alongside Howard, Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind), Brian Oliver (Black Swan), Eric Fellner (Atonement) and Andrew Eaton (A Might Heart). Zimmer and Howard have previously worked together multiple times, most recently on the movie adaptations of The DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons, the comedy The Dilemma and the Academy Award-nominated drama Frost/Nixon. Intrada Records has announced the release of a number of classic film scores. First up is the world premiere release of the complete score for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. The music is composed by Leonard Rosenman who received an Academy Award nomination for his score. Apart from the movie’s full score, the 2CD-set also includes previously unreleased cues, plus several alternates including Rosenman’s unused take on Alexander Courage’s TV theme. ‘Big Miracle’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the upcoming drama Big Miracle. The album includes the original score from the film by composer Cliff Eidelman (He’s Just Not That Into You, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country). The soundtrack will be released on January 24, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Big Miracle is directed by Ken Kwapis and stars Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Kristen Bell, Dermot Mulroney, Tim Blake Nelson, Vinessa Shaw, Stephen Root and Ted Danson. The movie is based on a true story and centers on a small-town news reporter and a Greenpeace volunteer who enlist the help of rival superpowers to save three majestic gray whales trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circlewill. Christopher Lennertz has signed on to score the upcoming romantic comedy Think Like a Man. The movie is directed by Tim Story and stars Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Taraji P. Henson, Meagan Good, Gabrielle Union, Jerry Ferrara, Regina Hall, Terrence J. and Romany Malco. The Screen Gems Production is based on Steve Harvey’s book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man and adapted for the screen by Keith Merryman & David A. Newman (Friends with Benefits).  In the film, four interconnected and diverse friends have their love lives shaken up after the women they are pursuing buy Harvey’s book and start taking his advice to heart. Will Packer (Obsessed, Takers) is producing the project. Story’s previous musical collaborators include John Ottman (Fantastic Four), Christophe Beck (Taxi) and Terence Blanchard (Barbershop).
