Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack album for the supernatural drama Byzantium. The album features the film’s score written by Academy Award-nominated composer Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans). The soundtrack will be released on CD in the UK on July 8, 2013. No word yet on a domestic release date. Byzantium is directed by Neil Jordan and stars Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton, Sam Riley, Jonny Lee Miller and Caleb Landry Jones. The movie follows two female vampires who wreak havoc on an unsuspecting English seaside community. The film premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being released in the UK this weekend. IFC Films has picked up domestic rights and will release the drama in select theaters on June 28 and on VOD on July 1. Read the rest of this entry »

Aaron Zigman to Score ‘The Other Woman’

Aaron Zigman is reteaming with director Nick Cassavates on the upcoming romantic comedy The Other Woman. The film stars Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster Waldau, Kate Upton, Taylor Kinney and Nicki Minaj. The movie follows a woman who finds out that she is not her boyfriend’s primary lover and plots with the man’s wife for revenge. Melissa Stack wrote the screenplay and Julie Yorn (We Bought a Zoo, Unstoppable, Bride Wars) is producing the project through LBI Productions. Zigman has previously collaborated with Cassavetes on all of the director’s features since 2002’s John Q, including The Notebook, Alpha Dog, My Sister’s Keeper and Yellow. ‘Only God Forgives’ Soundtrack to Be Released on Vinyl

Milan Records has revealed the cover art of the Vinyl version of the soundtrack for Nicolas Winding-Refn’s thriller Only God Forgives. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Cliff Martinez (Traffic, Drive, Contagion), as well as the song You Are My Dream by the Thai band PROUD. The 180g LP is limited to 4000 copies and also includes a download card. The soundtrack will be released on July 16, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) has published the acceptance speech of Cliff Martinez, the honoree of the Richard Kirk Award at this year’s BMI Film & TV Awards. The composer of such movies as Traffic, Solaris, Drive, The Lincoln Lawyer, Arbitrage and Sex, Lies & Videotapes received the award on May 15 at the awards ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Joel McNeely has been tapped to score the upcoming western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West. The film is directed by Seth MacFarlane who also stars in the film alongside Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Sarah Silverman, Giovanni Ribisi and Neil Patrick Harris. The movie follows a sheepish farmer who backs out of a gunfight and loses his girlfriend, who leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. MacFarlane co-wrote the screenplay with Wellesley Wild & Alec Sulkin (Family Guy, Ted). Scott Stuber (Safe House, Identity Thief) and Jason Clark (Ted) are producing the project. Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the fifth season of the Fox sci-fi mystery series Fringe. The album features selections from final season’s original score composed by Chris Tilton. The soundtrack will be released on June 25, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The movie is based on the true story of grieving parents who used the unexpected death of their young daughter as the impetus to erect a children’s hospital in their daughter’s name where families are welcomed into the healing process. Carroll Cartwright (What Maisie Knew, Where the Money Is) wrote the screenplay and Anthony Mastromauro (Beer League) is producing the project for Identity Films.
