Christopher Willis has been tapped to score Disney Television Animation’s upcoming movie and series The Lion Guard. The projects are developed by Ford Riley (Special Agent Oso) and will continue the story introduced 20 years ago in the studio’s animated classic The Lion King. The movie and show will center on the second-born cub of Simba and Nala as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a group of the bravest and brightest tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. Riley also serves as an executive producer and Howy Parkins (Jake and the Never Land Pirates) is the director. Howard Shore has composed the music for the upcoming drama Rosewater. The film marks the directorial debut of The Daily Show host Jon Stewart and stars Gael Garcia Bernal, leading an international cast. The movie is based on the memoir Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival and tells the true story of Canadian-Iranian BBC journalist Maziar Bahari who spent four months in an Iranian prison being blindly interrogated by a man who smelled of rosewater. Stewart has also written the screenplay and is also producing the OddLot Entertainment production with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, Moneyball, The Social Network) and Gigi Pritzker (Drive, Ender’s Game). Complete ‘Deep Rising’ Score by Jerry Goldsmith to Be Released

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1998 the horror thriller Deep Rising directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Treat Williams, Famke Janssen, Wes Studi and Djimon Hounsou. Paraphrasing composer. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the Apes, Patton, The Omen, Alien, Star Trek: The Motion Picture) who would later on score the director’s hit adventure movie The Mummy. The album features around 30 minutes of previously unreleased music from the film, as well as an unused opening sequence as originally scored by composer. Benson Taylor to Score ‘London Fields’

Benson Taylor has announced on Twitter that he is composing the score for the upcoming crime thriller London Fields. The film is directed by Matthew Cullen and stars Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess, Theo James and Jaimie Alexander. Johnny Depp will appear in a cameo role. The movie is based on the novel by Martin Amis (Saturn 3) and follows a promiscuous psychic who meets her fate as foretold by her visions by going to a seedy London pub. Amis has written the screenplay with Roberta Hanley (Veronika Decides to Die). Chris Hanley (Spring Breakers, American Psycho) is producing the project for Muse Productions, alongside Jordan Gertner for Hero Entertainment and Geyer Kosinski (Bad News Bears, Fargo, School for Scoundrels) for Media Talent Group. ‘Begin Again’ Soundtrack Announced

Adam Levine’s label 222 Records has announced a partnership with Interscope Records to release the official soundtrack album for the comedy drama Begin Again. The album features the songs from the film co-written by Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois, Nick Lashley, Nick Southwood, Rick Nowels, John Carney and Glen Hansard and performed by the film’s cast. The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Begin Again written and directed by John Carney (Once) stars Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfeld, James Corden, Ceelo Green and Catherine Keener. The movie follows a songwriter who comes to the States with her singer boyfriend, only to catch him philandering with a record company executive. The dramedy produced by Anthony Bregman, Tobin Armbrust and Judd Apatow premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on June 27, 2014 by the Weinstein Company. The details of the fourth soundtrack album for HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones have been revealed. The soundtrack features selections from the original score of the show’s fourth season composed by Ramin Djawadi (Iron Man, Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans). Also included is the cover version of the song The Rains of Castamere by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós, which was previously released as a single. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action thriller Edge of Tomorrow
directed by Doug Liman and starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong and Franz Drameh. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Muppets, Buffy the Vampire Slayer). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner David Hirschfelder (Elizabeth, Shine, The Railway Man, Legend of the Guardians).
