jessabelleLionsgate Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Jessabelle. The album features the film’s original music composed by Anton Sanko (The PossessionOuijaBig LoveRabbit Hole). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. La-La Land Records has announced physical version, which is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Jessabelle is directed by Kevin Greutert and stars Sarah Snook, Mark Webber, David Andrews, Joelle Carter, Ana de la Reguera, Larisa Oleynik, Chris Ellis, Fran Bennett ands Amber Stevens. The movie follows young woman who returns to her childhood home to recover from a car accident, only to find herself face-to-face with a terrifying spirit that has been awaiting her. hmmaThe Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) announced the performers today for the 5th Annual HMMAs. Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter/producer Gregg Alexander will perform the original song Lost Stars from this year’s comedy drama Begin Again, which is performed in the film by Adam Levine and Keira Knightley. It will mark the former New Radicals frontman’s first live performance in 15 years. In addition, Antonio Sanchez will open the awards show with a special drum performance from Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Birdman live to a scene from the film. Finally, Gwendolyn SadfordBrandon Jay and Scott Doherty will perform their original music from Jenji Kohan’s Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black. Read the rest of this entry »

imageSPACELAB9 and Madison Gate Records have announced a Double LP soundtrack release for the 2009 sci-fi thriller District 9 directed by Neill Blomkamp and starring Sharlto Copley. The deluxe expanded edition includes the eleven tracks from the original 30 minute album from 2009, plus an additional eight bonus tracks comprising 25 minutes of previously unreleased original score composed by Clinton Shorter (Contraband, Pompeii, 2 Guns). david-hirschfelderDavid Hirschfelder is set to score the upcoming period comedy The Dressmaker. The film is written and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and stars Kate Winslet, Judy Davis, Liam Hemsworth, Hugo Weaving, Caroline Goodall, Shane Bourne, Kerry Fox, Rebecca Gibney, Alison Whyte, Sacha Horler, Shane Jacobson, Genevieve Lemon and Sarah Snook. The movie based on the best-selling novel by Rosalie Ham is set in the 1950s and follows an avenging angel who returns home to the remote country town from which she escaped as a child after being accused of murder, to make amends with her eccentric mother. titan-a-eLa-La Land Records has announced the world premiere release of the original score for the 1997 animated sci-fi epic Titan A.E. directed by directed by Don Bluth & Gary Goldman and featuring the voices of Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore, Bill Pullman, John Leguizamo, Nathan Lane and Janeane Garofalo. The album features the composer’s music for the 20th Century Fox production is composed by Graeme Revell (The Chronicles of RiddickGothamSin CityDaredevilThe Crow, From Dusk Till Dawn), including two bonus tracks. The soundtrack is limited to 1500 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio clips.

gspoThis Thursday, October 23, the Golden State Pops Orchestra (GSPO) will host an Anatomy of a Horror Score fundraiser. The event will include a discussion with a group of composers/filmmakers who will talk about their process and philosophy using audio/video samples and in some cases perform excerpts from their work live. Participating composers include Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, World War Z, The Wolverine), Charles Bernstein (A Nightmare on Elm Street, April Fool’s Day), Joseph LoDuca (The Evil Dead, Boogeyman, Xena: Warrior Princess) and Nathan Barr (Hostel, True Blood, Hemlock Grove, Cabin Fever). Also appearing at the event will be writer/director Don Mancini (Child’s Play, Bride of Chucky). The fundraiser will take place at composer Christoper Lennertz’s Sonic Fuel Studios in El Segundo, CA. ‘Mercy’ Soundtrack Released

mercyBack Lot Music has released a soundtrack album for the supernatural thriller Mercy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Reza Safinia (Filly Brown). The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Mercy is directed by Peter Cornwell (The Haunting in Connecticut) and stars Dylan McDermott, Frances O’Connor, Chandler Riggs, Joel Courtney, Shirley Knight, Mark Duplass and Chris Browning. The movie is based on a short story by Stephen King and follows two mischievous young brothers who accompany their single mother to take care of their grandma in her remote and lonely house, which leads to the discovery of terrifying secrets about the grandma’s true nature. back-to-the-futureIMG Artists and the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency announced a new partnership with Universal Pictures today that will see Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future return to the big screen, accompanied by a live orchestra performing the film’s original score composed by Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cast Away, Captain America: The First Avenger). The events will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the movie starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Llyod and Lea Thompson. Silvestri will compose roughly 15 minutes of new material as part of the performance tour, which will have its world premiere screening and performance in Lucerne, Switzerland, performed by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra, in May of 2015. mockingjayThe full details of the soundtrack album for the sequel The Hunger Games – Mockingjay – Part 1 have been revealed. The album features the original songs Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde and This Is Not a Game by The Chemical Brothers, which have previously been released as singles. Also included are other tracks by Lorde who is curating the full soundtrack, as well as songs by Charli XCX, Raury, CHVRCHES, Stromae, Raury, Grace Jones, XOV, Tinashé and Bat for Lashes. The soundtrack will be released on November 17, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. suffragetteAlexandre Desplat is currently scoring the upcoming historical drama Suffragette. The film is directed by Sarah Gavron (Brick Lane) and stars Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Romola Garai, Anne-Marie Duff and Samuel West. The movie takes place during the early days of the women’s suffrage movement in the U.K. and centers around the foot soldiers who were forced underground. Abi Morgan (The Iron LadyShame, The Invisible Woman) has written the screenplay. Faye Ward and Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks, Elizabeth, Jane Eyre) are producing the Ruby Films production.
