‘Wolf Totem’ Soundtrack Details

wolf-totemMilan Records will release a soundtrack album for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s epic adventure drama Wolf Totem. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner James Horner (TitanicBraveheartAvatarA Beautiful MindApollo 13Aliens) who previously collaborated with the director on such films as The Name of the RoseEnemy at the Gates and Black Gold. The soundtrack will be released in France on February 23, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. Wolf Totem is based on the autobiographical novel by Jiang Rong and stars Chinese actors Feng Shaofeng and Dou Xiao . The movie follows a student who is sent from Beijing in China to the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia to teach shepherds and learns about the bond that they share with the wolves. james-newton-howardJames Newton Howard has signed on to score the upcoming drama Concussion. The film is directed by Peter Landesman and stars Will Smith, Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Luke Wilson, Arliss Howard, Paul Reiser, David Morse and Albert Brooks. The movie centers on Dr. Bennet Omalu, the forensic neuropathologist who discovered football-related brain trauma in a player and fought to bring awareness to the public. Landesman has also written the screenplay based on the GQ article Game Brain by Jeanne Marie Laskas. Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Blade Runner, Alien) is producing the project with Giannina Facio (Tristan + Isolde), David Wolthoff, Larry Shuman and Elizabeth Cantillon (The Banger Sisters). Expanded ‘Ladyhawke’ Soundtrack Released

ladyhawkeLa-La Land Records has released a new soundtrack album for the 1985 fantasy romance Ladyhawke directed by Richard Donner starring Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer. The album features the remastered and expanded original score from the film composed by Andrew Powell (Rocking Gibraltar), including previously unreleased music and bonus tracks. The soundtrack for the Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox production is limited to 3000 copies. elliot-goldenthalThe American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has announced that composer Elliot Goldenthal will receive the organization’s Founder Award at the 30th annual Film & Television Music Awards, which will take place on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The invitation-only dinner and awards ceremony will honor the composers and songwriters of the top box office film music, the most performed television music and the top video game music of 2014. The Founder Award is given to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. pixelsHenry Jackman is composing the score for the upcoming sci-fi comedy Pixels. The film is directed by Chris Columbus and stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Brian Cox and Ashley Benson. The movie centers on aliens misinterpreting video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, leading to an attack on Earth. Tim Herlihy (The Wedding RingerBedtime Stories) and Timothy Dowling (Role ModelsJust Go With It) have written the screenplay based on a story by Herlihy. Sandler & Allen Covert are producing the project for Happy Madison, along with Columbus, Michael Barnathan (The HelpNight at the Museum) and Mark Radcliffe (Harry Potter series, Mrs. Doubtfire) for 1492 Pictures. The film is directed by Courtney Hunt (Frozen River) and stars Keanu Reeves, Renee Zellweger, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jim Belushi and Gabriel Basso. The movie follows a defense attorney who fights to get his teenage client acquitted of murdering his wealthy father. Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Nicholas Kazan (Reversal of Fortune, Matilda, Bicentennial Man) has penned the screenplay. Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher, Begin Again) is producing the project for Likely Story, alongside Kevin Frakes (Laggies) for PalmStar Entertainment. grammysAlexandre Desplat has won the Grammy Award for his music for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category. He previously won a Grammy for his score for Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech. The other nominated composers in the category included Christophe Beck (Frozen), Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (Gone Girl), Steven Price (Gravity) and Thomas Newman (Saving Mr. Banks). In the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez won the award for the song Frozen from Disney’s hit feature Frozen. In the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Media category, the soundtrack album for Frozen, which features the film’s songs and the score composed by Christophe Beck, released by Walt Disney Records was honored with a Grammy award.  Read the rest of this entry »

baftaAlexandre Desplat has received his second BAFTA Award for his score for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel in the Original Music category. The composer accepted the award in person at the British Academy Film Awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London. Desplat previously won the BAFTA Award in 2011 for The King’s Speech and was nominated five more times. He was nominated alongside Antonio Sanchez (Birdman), Hans Zimmer (Interstellar), Johann Johannsson (The Theory of Everything) and Mica Levi (Under the Skin). better-call-saulPremiering tonight is the AMC original series Better Call Saul created by Vince Gilligan & Peter Gould and starring Bob Odenkirk. The show is a spin-off of AMC’s Breaking Bad and features original music composed by Dave Porter (The Blacklist). Better Call Saul focuses on the character of attorney Saul Goodman from the Emmy-winning hit drama, which was also scored by Porter for its full five season run.
