Composer Laura Karpman has been elected to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 2016–17 Board of Governors. She joins Charles Bernstein and Michael Giacchino who are the other two governors of the branch. It will mark her first term serving on the music branch board. Karpman’s scoring credits include the 2009 feature The Tournament, 2013’s Black Nativity, the Steven Spielberg-produced mini-series Taken and WGN America’s Underground. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the psychological thriller The Stanford Prison Experiment. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andrew Hewitt (The Double, Submarine, Mojave, The Brass Teapot). The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 5, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Stanford Prison Experiment is directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez and starrs Billy Crudup, Ezra Miller, Michael Angarano, Tye Sheridan, Johnny Simmons, Olivia Thirlby, Keir Gilchrist and Thomas Mann. The movie tells the true story of a Stanford University professor who, in 1971, cast 24 student volunteers as prisoners and guards in a simulated jail to examine the source of abusive behavior in the prison system. J. Ralph is set to compose the music for the upcoming romantic drama Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. The film is directed by Paul McGuigan (Push, Wicker Park, Victor Frankenstein) and stars Annette Bening, Jamie Bell, Vanessa Redgrave, Julie Walters, Kenneth Cranham, Stephen Graham, Frances Barber and Leanne Best. The movie tells the true story of the young Liverpudlian actor Peter Turner who fell in love with the older Hollywood golden age actress Gloria Grahame. Matt Greenhalgh (Control, Nowhere Boy) has written the screenplay based on Turner’s 1986 memoir of the same title. ‘Elena of Avalor’ Soundtrack EP Details

The details of the first soundtrack release for the Disney Channel animated series Elena of Avalor have been revealed. The EP features seven tracks from the show, including the theme song performed by Gaby Moreno and Elena’s anthem My Time performed by Aimee Carrero, the voice of Princess Elena. The songs are written by series creator/executive producer Craig Gerber, songwriter/music director John Kavanaugh (Sofia the First), Emmy Award-nominated composer Tony Morales (Hatfields & McCoys) and touring musician and Latin music instructor Rene Camacho who serves as Latin music consultant. The soundtrack will be released on July 22, 2016 by Walt Disney Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The drama chronicles the lives and loves of the estranged Bordelon siblings in Saint Josephine, Louisiana who must navigate the triumphs and struggles of their complicated lives in order to run an ailing sugarcane farm in the Deep South. WaterTower Music will release a score album for the superhero movie Suicide Squad. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price (Gravity, The World’s End, Attack the Block, Fury, The Hunt). The soundtrack will be released on August 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sony Classical is handling distribution of the album overseas and will release a physical version on August 12. As previously reported, Atlantic Records will release a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie.
