Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the thriller Dunkirk directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Fionn Whitehead, Aneurin Barnard, Harry Styles, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden and Barry Keoghan. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, Gladiator, The Lion King). Also opening wide is the fantasy adventure Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets directed by Luc Besson and starring Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, Kris Wu and Rutger Hauer. Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) has composed the film’s original music. Big Machine Records will release a new soundtrack album for the CMT original series Nashville. The album features more songs from the show’s fifth season performed by cast members including Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack and Lennon & Maisy, as well as Rhiannon Giddens. The Season 5 – Volume 3 soundtrack will be released on August 11, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on
Wayfind Records will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama Menashe. The album features the film’s original music composed by Aaron Martin & Dag Rosenqvist. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 28, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on
Producer Jeph Loeb announced at Comic-Con today that Sean Callery is scoring Marvel’s upcoming TV series Inhumans and is recording his music for the project with a 70-piece orchestra. The show developed by Scott Buck (Dexter, Iron Fist) based on the comic book series of the same title stars Anson Mount, Iwan Rheon, Serinda Swan, Eme Ikwuakor, Isabelle Cornish, Ken Leung, Ellen Woglom, Sonya Balmores and Mike Moh. The show explores the adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. Buck is also executive producing the Marvel Television and ABC Studios production with Loeb & Jim Chory (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller 47 Meters Down. The album features the film’s original music composed by tomandandy (The Strangers, The Mothman Prophecies, The Rules of Attraction, Wish Upon). Ricky Reed has recorded the original song Good Vibrations for Sony Pictures Animation’s The Emoji Movie. The track is being released digitally tomorrow and will also be included on the soundtrack album, which will be released next week by Sony Music. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Steven Soderbergh’s crime comedy Logan Lucky. The album features the songs from the film by artists including John Denver, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Bo Diddley, John Fahey, The Groundhogs, LeAnn Rimes & more. Also included is a medley of the movie’s original score composed by David Holmes (Ocean’s trilogy, Out of Sight, Haywire). sonaBLAST! Records will release a soundtrack for the drama In the Radiant City. The EP features five songs from the film by The Instruction, Jonathan Glen Wood, The Fervor and Ben Sollee . The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 4, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on
Agatha Kaspar has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming drama Kodachrome. The film is directed by Mark Raso and stars Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris, Elizabeth Olsen, Bruce Greenwood and Dennis Haysbert. The movie is based on the 2010 New York Time article For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas by A.G. Sulzberger and centers on a father and son who take a road trip to Kansas in order to develop photographs at Kodak’s last Kodachrome lab before it closes its doors for good.
Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack for the Freeform original series Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments. The EP features six songs from the show, including the theme song This is the Hunt by Ruelle, as well as original tracks performed by actor Alberto Rosende, Birthday, Liam O’Donnell and Sierra Deaton.
