Notefornote Entertainment has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1987 political thriller No Way Out directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman, Sean Young, Will Patton, Howard Duff, George Dzundza, Jason Bernard, Fred Thompson and Iman. The 2-CD set features the film’s expanded original music composed by Academy Award winner Maurice Jarre (Lawrence of Arabia, Ghost, Doctor Zhivago, Witness), including the composer’s score on the first disc and the content of the original soundtrack album, as well as bonus tracks on the second disc. Alexandre Desplat has begun work on the upcoming historical thriller Operation Finale. The film is directed by Chris Weitz (About a Boy) and stars Oscar Isaac, Ben Kingsley, Melanie Laurent, Lior Raz, Nick Kroll, Michael Aronov, Haley Lu Richardson, Joe Alwyn, Ohad Knoller, Greg Hill, Torben Liebrecht, Mike Hernandez, Greta Scacchi and Pêpê Rapazote. WaterTower Music has released the cover versions of Wu-Tang Clan’s C.R.E.A.M. and The Rolling Stone’s Paint It Black by composer Ramin Djawadi (Game of ThronesIron ManA Wrinkle in TimePacific Rim) as featured in the last episode of the HBO original series Westworld. Mark Orton is scoring the upcoming indie comedy drama Elsewhere. The film is written and directed by Hernan Jimenez (About Us) and stars Aden Young, Parker Posey, Ken Jeong, Beau Bridges, Jacki Weaver and Jackie Tohn. The movie follows a man who is hopelessly attached to the seaside cottage that he and his late wife built together and – after getting evicted – vows to get it back at any price. Premiering in the U.S. on Wednesday, May 23, is the British mini-series The Split created and written by Abi Morgan, directed by Jessica Hobbs and starring Nicola Walker, Meera Syal, Stephen Mangan, Fiona Button, Deborah Findlay and Anthony Head. The show’s original music is composed by Isobel Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). The drama centers on a family of female divorce lawyers who are forced to face their past following the return of their estranged father after a 30 year absence. Premiering on Friday, May 25, is the Netflix original movie Ibiza directed by Alex Richanbach and starring Gillian Jacobs, Vanessa Bayer, Phoebe Robinson and Richard Madden. Jeff Morrow (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Trolls Holiday) has composed the film’s original music. Mike Suby has recently scored a number of pilots that have been picked up to series, including The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico. The show is developed by Carina Adly MacKenzie based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz and stars Jeanine Mason, Nathan Parsons Tyler Blackburn, Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis and Heather Hemmens. The series follows the daughter of undocumented immigrants who reluctantly returns to her hometown only to discover that her teenage crush is now a police officer and also an alien who has kept his spectacular abilities a secret. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, A.X.L., Animals, My Blind Brother) & Sofia Hultquist (The First Monday in May, Love & Bananas). Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the superhero movie Deadpool 2 directed by David Leitch and starring Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, Brianna Hildebrand and Jack Kesy. The film’s original score is composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy300WatchmenJohn WickThe Punisher). Peter Nashel (I, Tonya, The Night Listener, Bee Season, Marco Polo) has composed the film’s original score. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its summer programming lineup, which includes an evening dedicated to Oscar-winning songwriters Richard M. Sherman & Robert Sherman, best known for their classic songs for movies such as Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The Sherman Brothers: A Hollywood Songbook will take place on June 20 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, CA and will feature appearances by Richard Sherman himself, composer Michael Giacchino (Up, Jurassic World, Star Trek, Lost), film critic Leonard Maltin, director Pete Docter & producer Jonas Rivera (Up, Inside Out) and actors B.J.
