Jonathan Goldsmith is composing the music for the upcoming horror comedy Dreamland. The film is directed by Bruce McDonald (Pontypool, Weirdos) and stars Stephen McHattie, Juliette Lewis, Tómas Lemarquis and Henry Rollins. The movie centers on a reluctant hitman who chases his jazz legend doppelganger through a city populated by street urchins, a vampire, and a crime kingpin. Premiering on Wednesday, July 25, is the Hulu original series Castle Rock developed by Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason and starring André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Scott Glenn. Thomas Newman (The Shawshank RedemptionAmerican Beauty Finding Nemo) has composed the show’s main titles theme, as well as the first two episodes and Chris Westlake (Before We Go, Small Town Crime) has scored the other eight episodes of the first season. WaterTower Music has released Newman’s main theme and end titles music this past Friday. Check out our previous article for more information.

Also premiering in the U.S. on Wednesday is the Canadian legal drama Burden of Truth created by Brad Simpson and starring Kristin Kreuk, Peter Mooney, Star Slade, Nicola Correia-Damude and David Lawrence Brown. The show’s original music is composed by Ian LeFeuvre (The Detail, Carter) and Benjamin Pinkerton (Lost Girl, Dark Matter). Jody Colero serves as the project’s score producer and Shawn Pierce (The Bridge, Motive) has provided additional score to a few episodes. The series, which follows a big city lawyer who returns to her hometown to take the case of a group of girls suffering from a mysterious illness, aired earlier this year in Canada on CBC and is premiering stateside on The CW. Benjamin Wallfisch is reuniting with David F. Sandberg on the upcoming superhero movie Shazam!. The film stars Zachary Levi in the title role, alongside Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Rosa Vasquez and Ron Cephas Jones. Bear McCreary has been tapped to score the upcoming monster movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Trick ‘r Treat) and stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr.,  Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch and Ziyi Zhang. The movie follows a group of members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as they face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. Fall Out Boy lead singer Patrick Stump has recently composed the music for the upcoming comedy drama Changeland. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Seth Green  who also stars in the movie alongside Breckin Meyer, Brenda Song, Clare Grant, Macaulay Culkin, Rose Williams, Kedar Williams-Stirling and Randy Orton. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action thriller sequel The Equalizer 2 directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. Harry Gregson-Williams (The MartianThe Chronicles of NarniaShrekUnstoppableMan on Fire) who previously scored the 2014 original movie has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the movie musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again directed by Ol Parker and starring Lily James, Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Barankski, Jeremy Irvine, Jessica Keenan Wynn Andy Garcia and Cher. Keegan DeWitt is composing the original score for the upcoming Facebook Watch original series Sorry for Your Loss. The show is created by Kit Steinkellner and stars Elizabeth Olsen, Kelly Marie Tran, Janet McTeer, Jovan Adepo and Mamoudou Athie. The comedy revolves around a young widow as she deals with the grief of losing her husband while reconnecting with relationships of her past. Steinkellner is also executive producing the Big Beach TV production with Robin Schwartz & Marc Turtletaub (Vida), Peter Saraf (Little Miss Sunshine, Safety Not Guaranteed), Cynthia Pett, Brad Petrigala, Jon Liebman (Resurrection), as well as James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now, Smashed) who also directed the first episode.
