Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the drama Atlantics (Atlantique). The album features the film’s original music composed by Fatima Al Qadiri. The soundtrack is now available to download in French music stores (click here to check out audio samples) and will be released in the U.S. and other markets on November 15 (visit Amazon to pre-order the album). Atlantics is directed by Mati Diop and stars Mama Sané, Amadou Mbow, Ibrahima Traoré, Nicole Sougou, Amina Kane, Mariama Gassama and Coumba Dieng. The movie, which has just been selected as Senegal’s candidate for the Best International Feature category for next year’s Academy Awards, centers on the blossoming love between, a young construction worker and a woman who is about to be forced into an unwanted arranged marriage with a wealthier man. The film is directed by Alejandro Monteverde (Bella, Little Boy) and stars Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino, Eduardo Verastegui and Bill Camp. The movie tells the true story of Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard’s effort to rescue kidnapped children.
