Premiering tonight is the Showtime original series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels created by John Logan and starring Daniel Zovatto, Natalie Dormer, Kerry Bishé, Amy Madigan  Lin Shaye, Rory Kinnear, Thomas Kretschmann, Piper Perabo, Brent Spiner, Adam Rodriguez, Michael Gladis, Dominic Sherwood, Lorenza Izzo, Ethan Peck and Nathan Lane. The show’s original music is composed by John Paesano (Daredevil, The Maze Runner, The Star, Truth Be Told, Almost Christmas). Premiering tomorrow, April 27, is the Netflix original series Never Have I Ever created by Mindy Kaling & Lang Fisher and starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young. Joseph Stephens (Observe and Report, Eastbound & Down, Flower, Vice Principals) is the composer of the new Netflix original series Never Have I Ever. The show is created by Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project, Late Night) & Lang Fisher and stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young. The comedy revolves around an Indian-American teen who wants to go from pariah to popular after a traumatic year, but friends, family and feelings won’t make it easy on her. Kaling and Fisher are also executive producing Universal Television production with Howard Klein (Jessica Jones), David Miner (30 Rock, Parks and Recreation) and Tristram Shapeero (Community, Blunt Talk). ‘Van Der Valk’ Soundtrack Album Released

All3Media has released a soundtrack album for the reboot of the classic detective series Van Der Valk. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season (consisting of three feature-length episodes) composed and conducted by Matthijs Kieboom (Wild, Bloody Marie). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Van Der Valk is written by Chris Murray and stars Marc Warren in the title role, alongside Maimie McCoy, Elliot Barnes-Worrell, Darrell D’Silva and Emma Fielding. The drama revolves around a street-smart and unapologetic detective Piet Van Der Valk as he is investigating high profile cases and gritty murders that immerse him and his team in contemporary Amsterdam’s fast-paced worlds of art, politics, addiction, mysticism, and fashion. Soundtrack Albums for AMC’s ‘Dispatches from Elsewhere’ to Be Released

Lakeshore Records will release two soundtrack albums for the AMC original series Dispatches from Elsewhere. The albums feature the show’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, Watchmen, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Leopold Ross & Claudia Sarne (The Book of Eli, Earthquake Bird, Broken City) . Opening in the U.S. in select drive-in theaters and on VOD today is the western True History of the Kelly Gang directed by Justin Kurzel and starring George MacKay, Essie Davis, Nicholas Hoult, Charlie Hunnam, Russell Crowe, Thomasin McKenzie, Sean Keenan, Orlando Schwerdt, Earl Cave, Marlon Williams and Louis Hewison. The film’s original music is composed by Jed Kurzel (Alien: Covenant, Macbeth, The Babadook, The Mustang, The Snowtown Murders). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the movie opened in Australia. Also opening on VOD is the historical drama Robert the Bruce directed by Richard Gray and starring Angus Macfadyen (who is reprising his role from Mel Gibson’s Braveheart), Jared Harris, Anna Hutchinson, Patrick Fugit, Emma Kenney, Zach McGowan, Daniel Portman, Talitha Eliana Bateman and Mhairi Calvey. Mel Elias (Blush) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. ‘We Got the Beat’ Cover from ‘Valley Girl’ Released

Interscope Records has released the cover version of The Go-Go’s’ We Got the Beat from the musical remake Valley Girl. The song (originally written by Charlotte Caffey) is performed by cast members Jessica Rothe, Jessie Ennis, Chloe Bennet & Ashleigh Murray and produced by Harvey Mason Jr. The track is now available to stream/download as a digital single on Amazon. The show is created by Álex Pina (Money Heist, Kamikaze) and stars Laura Haddock, Nuno Lopes, Marta Milans, Juan Diego Botto, Daniel Mays, Laurence Fox and Angela Griffin. The drama follows a young woman who leaves her quiet life behind to investigate her brother’s disappearance in Ibiza, where she quickly heads down a decadent and dangerous path. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kristian Eidnes Andersen (Antichrist, Ida, Nobel, The Man Who Saved the World, Petra). ‘Defending Jacob’ Soundtrack Album Details

Paramount Music will release a soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ limited series Defending Jacob. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Atli Örvarsson (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Vantage Point, The Edge of Seventeen, The Eagle). Also included is the series’ theme written by Ólafur Arnalds (Broadchurch). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 24 and will be available to stream/download on Apple Music/iTunes. Defending Jacob is created by Mark Bomback based on the 2012 novel of the same title by William Landay and stars Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Pablo Schreiber, Cherry Jones, Betty Gabriel and Sakina Jaffrey. The 8-part thriller directed by Morten Tyldum centers on a shocking crime that rocks a small Massachusetts town, and follows an assistant district attorney who finds himself torn between his sworn duty to uphold justice and his unconditional love for his son.
