A soundtrack album has been released for the 2015 mystery thriller Backtrack. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dale Cornelius (The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Blinky Bill, Mary and Max). Backtrack is written and directed by Michael Petroni and stars Adrien Brody, Bruce Spence, Sam Neill, Robin McLeavy, Malcolm Kennard and Jenni Baird. The thriller premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival and was released in select theaters the following year. Peter Raeburn (Woodshock, Nancy, Photograph) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Australian crime thriller The Dry. The film is directed by Robert Connolly (Paper Planes, Balibo) and stars Eric Bana, Genevieve O’Reilly, Keir O’Donnell and John Polson. The movie is based on Jane Harper’s bestselling novel of the same title and follows a cop who returns to his hometown to face the demons of his past after his childhood friend dies in a murder-suicide. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker directed by J.J. Abrams and starring Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, E.T., Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). Also opening wide is the film adaptation of the stage musical Cats directed by Tom Hooper and starring James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Rebel Wilson, Francesca Hayward, Robbie Fairchild and Taylor Swift. Andrew Lloyd Webber (Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar) has composed the film’s music. Air-Edel Records has released a soundtrack album for Matteo Garrone’s new film adaptation of Pinocchio. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Anna Karenina, Kubo and the Two Strings, V for Vendetta, Darkest Hour). Also included is the end titles song Passo Passo written by Marianelli and featuring vocalist Petra Magoni. The soundtrack is now available digitally in Italy.
