David Robbins is scoring the upcoming HBO original series The Brink. The show is created by Kim and Roberto Benabib and stars Jack Black, the composer’s brother Tim Robbins, Pablo Schreiber, Aasif Mandvi, Maribeth Monroe, Eric Ladin, Esai Morales and Geoff Pierson. The comedy follows the U.S. Secretary of State, a lowly Foreign Service officer and an ace Navy fighter pilot who must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War III. Jerry Weintraub (Ocean’s Eleven, The Karate Kid, Behind the Candelabra) is producing the project with Roberto Benabib (Weeds) and Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers, Game Change).

‘Not Alone’ from ‘Broadchurch’ to Be Released
Mercury Records will release a new single for the British hit crime series Broadchurch. The track entitled Not Alone composed by Olafur Arnalds is from the show’s second season, which premiered in the UK earlier this year and currently airs in the U.S. on BBC America. The single will be released digitally on April 21, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out an audio sample after the jump. Weekly TV Music Roundup (April 12, 2015)
Premiering tonight is the Lifetime original movie Seeds of Yesterday directed by Shawn Ku (Beautiful Boy) and starring Rachael Carpani, James Maslow, Jason Lewis, Sammi Hanratty, Anthony Konechny, Leah Gibson and Nikohl Boosheri. The film’s original movie is composed by Douglas Pipes (Monster House, Trick ‘r’ Treat). Seeds of Yesterday is the final installment in the Dollananger series based on V.C. Andrews’ best- selling book series following Flowers in the Attic and Petals of the Wind, which were both scored by Mario Grigorov, and If There Be Thorns, which was scored by Pipes and premiered on Lifetime last Sunday. Premiering tomorrow, April 13, is the second season of AMC’s Turn: Washington’s Spies created by Craig Silverstein and starring Jamie Bell, Seth Numrich, Daniel Henshall, Heather Lind, Meegan Warner, Kevin R. McNally, Burn Gorman, Angus Macfadyen, JJ Feild, Samuel Roukin and Ian Kahn. Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z, The Wolverine, The Hurt Locker) who previously scored last year’s first season returns and is now sharing co-composer credit with Brandon Roberts who wrote additional music for the first season. ‘Spotless’ Soundtrack Announced
7Hz Productions will release a soundtrack album for the crime drama series Spotless. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Neil Davidge (Halo 4, Push, Monsters: Dark Continent, Good People). Also included is the series’ opening titles song The Only One by Timber Timbre. The soundtrack will be released digitally overseas on April 17, 2015. Spotless is created by Ed McCardie & Corinne Marrinan and stars Miranda Raison, Brendan Coyle, Marc-André Grondin and Denis Ménochet. The drama follows a troubled man whose tidy life is turned upside down when his outlaw brother crash lands into his world, and gets both of them fatally involved in organized crime.
David Arnold to Score ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ TV Series
David Arnold has been tapped to score the upcoming ITV series Jekyll & Hyde. The action adventure is created by Charlie Higson and stars Tom Bateman, Richard E. Grant, Natalie Gumed, Stephanie Hyam, Donald Sumpter, Amit Shah, Phil McKee, Christian McKay and Ruby Bentall. The 10-part series inspired by The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson is set in 1930s London and centers on Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the original doctor, and will follow his quest to discover his real identity and the true nature of his family’s cursed history. Colin Teague (Being Human, Sinbad) is directing the show.
Trevor Yuile & Tim Welch Scoring Syfy’s ‘Killjoys’
Trevor Yuile and Tim Welch are composing the music for the Syfy original series Killjoys. The show is created by Michelle Lovretta (Lost Girl) and stars Hannah John-Kamen, Aaron Ashmore and Luke Macfarlan. The series follows a trio of interplanetary bounty hunters as they chase deadly Warrants (fugitives) throughout the Quad, a distant planetary system on the brink of a bloody class war. Lovretta is also executive producing the Temple Street production with David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg. Yuile is also scoring BBC America’s Orphan Black for Temple Street Productions and has previously composed the music for the production company’s Being Erica.
Clinton Shorter to Score Syfy’s ‘The Expanse’
Clinton Shorter has been hired to score the upcoming Syfy event series The Expanse. The show is created by Academy Award-winning writers Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) based on the New York Times bestselling series of novels of the same title and stars Thomas Jane, Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashlo, Florence Faivre, Jay Hernandez, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham and Paulo Costanzo. The series is set two hundred years in the future, after mankind has colonized the solar system and follows a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain who come together for what starts as the case of a missing woman and evolves into a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.

Premiering tonight is the NBC event series A.D. executive produced by Mark Burnett & Roma Downey and starring Juan Pablo di Pace, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Aniss Elkohen, Richard Coyle, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Cesare Taurasi and Adam Levy. Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King) and Lorne Balfe (Home, Penguins of Madagascar) have composed the music for the 12-parter. The show’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf, Hatfield & McCoys). Nathan Larson Scoring Showtime’s ‘Happyish’
Nathan Larson is composing the music for the new Showtime original series Happyish. The show is created by Shalom Auslander and stars Steve Coogan, Kathryn Hahn, Bradley Whitford, Sawyer Shipman, Carrie Preston, Molly Price and Andre Royo. The comedy drama follows a couple who face obsolescence in a youth-obsessed culture where people in their 40s are halfway to dead. Auslander is also executive producing the project with Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You, Vibes, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) who directed the pilot episode. Larson has previously collaborated with Kwapis on the feature A Walk in the Woods starring Robert Redford, Nick Nolte & Emma Thompson, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Broad Green Pictures for a release later this year.
‘The Dovekeepers’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the CBS mini-series The Dovekeepers have been revealed. The album features the series’ original music written by Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Rome, Carnivale, Ugly Betty). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 7, 2015. A physical release is planned for later this year. The Dovekeepers is directed by Yves Simoneau and stars Cote de Pablo, Rachel Brosnahan & Kathryn Prescott, Diego Boneta and Sam Neill. The 2-parter produced by Roma Downey & Mark Burnett is based on Alice Hoffman’s bestselling novel and centers on a group of extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada.
