Paramount Music will release a new soundtrack album for the 1997 romantic comedy The Beautician and the Beast directed by Ken Kwapis and starring Fran Drescher, Timothy Dalton, Ian McNeice, Lisa Jakub and Patrick Malahide. The album features the remastered original score from the film composed by Cliff Eidelman (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, He’s Just Not That Into You, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, One True Thing), including two previously unreleased tracks. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 20 and will be available to stream/download here.

‘A Walk in the Woods’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the comedy adventure A Walk in the Woods. The album features two score suites composed by Nathan Larson (Boys Don’t Cry, Show Me a Hero, Margin Call, The Skeleton Twins). Also included are previously unreleased tracks from Lurd Huron & Blake Mills, as well as four tracks from Lord Huron’s 2012 debut, Lonesome Dreams and songs by Dwight Yoakum, Great Lake Swimmers and Shovels & Rope. The soundtrack will be released on September 25, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A Walk in the Woods is directed by Ken Kwapis and stars Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal, Mary Steenburgen and Emma Thompson. The film follows two old friends who make the improbable decision to hike the 2,200–mile Appalachian Trail.
Nathan Larson Scoring Showtime’s ‘Happyish’
Nathan Larson is composing the music for the new Showtime original series Happyish. The show is created by Shalom Auslander and stars Steve Coogan, Kathryn Hahn, Bradley Whitford, Sawyer Shipman, Carrie Preston, Molly Price and Andre Royo. The comedy drama follows a couple who face obsolescence in a youth-obsessed culture where people in their 40s are halfway to dead. Auslander is also executive producing the project with Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You, Vibes, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) who directed the pilot episode. Larson has previously collaborated with Kwapis on the feature A Walk in the Woods starring Robert Redford, Nick Nolte & Emma Thompson, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Broad Green Pictures for a release later this year.

Nathan Larson has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama A Walk in the Woods. The film is directed by Ken Kwapis and stars Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, Emma Thompson, Mary Steenburgen, Nick Offerman and Kristen Schaal. The movie follows an aging travel writer who sets out to hike the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail with a long-estranged high school buddy and learns that some roads are better left untraveled. Rick Kerb and Bill Holderman have written the screenplay. Redford and Holderman (The Company You Keep, The Conspirator) are also producing the project with Chip Diggins (Love and Honor, Sex and Breakfast).
Cliff Eidelman to Score ‘Everybody Loves Whales’
Cliff Eidelman has signed on to score the drama Everybody Loves Whales. The movie stars Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Kristen Bell, Dermot Mulroney, Tim Blake Nelson, Vinessa Shaw, Stephen Root and Ted Danson. The film tells the true story of a small-town news reporter and a Greenpeace volunteer who enlist the help of rival superpowers to save three majestic gray whales trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle. The project is directed by Ken Kwapis who has worked with Eidelman numerous times, most recently on the 2009 romantic comedy hit He’s Just Not That Into You. The movie also marks the composer’s first scoring assignments since his last collaboration with Kwapis. Everybody Loves Whales is based on Tom Rose’s nonfiction book Freeing the Whales: How the Media Created the World’s Greatest Non-Event and is adapted for the screen by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler (The Prince and Me, The Shaggy Dog). Universal Pictures has set a January 27, 2012 release date for the film.
