Hollywood Records will release the official soundtrack album for Guillermo del Toro’s psychological thriller Nightmare Alley. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathan Johnson (Knives Out, Looper, Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Don Jon, Mr. Corman). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 3 and will be available to stream/download here. Nightmare Alley is co-written and directed by del Toro and stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Rooney Mara, Richard Jenkins, Willem Dafoe, Ron Perlman and David Strathairn. The movie based on William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel of the same name and revolves around an ambitious carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words who hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is even more dangerous than he is.

Variety is reporting that Nathan Johnson (Knives Out, Looper, Brick, Don Jon) has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming psychological thriller Nightmare Alley. He is replacing Alexandre Desplat who was previously scoring the movie. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro and stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Toni Collette, Ron Perlman and David Strathairn. The movie is based on the 1946 novel of the same title by William Lindsay Gresham and centers on an ambitious young carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words as he hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is even more dangerous than he is.
Soundtrack Album for Apple TV+’s ‘Mr. Corman’ to Be Released
Apple Video Programming will release a soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original series Mr. Corman. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed by Nathan Johnson (Knives Out, Brick, Looper, The Brothers Bloom, Don Jon, Kill the Messenger). Also included are songs performed by series creator/star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and cast members Debra Winger, Juno Temple and Bobby Hall a.k.a. Logic. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 6 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon or any other major digital music stores. Mr. Corman is written and directed by Gordon-Levitt and also stars Arturo Castro, Hector Hernandez Jamie Chung and Shannon Woodward. The comedy follows a man whose lifelong dream of a career in music didn’t pan out and finds himself teaching fifth grade at a school in the San Fernando Valley.

Premiering on Tuesday, August 3, is the documentary Pray Away directed by Kristine Stolakis and executive produced by Ryan Murphy. The film’s original music is composed by Laura Karpman (Lovecraft Country, What If…?, Underground, Paris Can Wait, Set It Up, Step, Black Nativity) & Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum (Bird Karma, Stockholm, Pennsylvania, Regarding Susan Sontag, Don’t Look Deeper, Half the Picture). The movie, which follows a group of ex-leaders and a survivor of the so-called “conversion therapy” movement as they speak out about its harm to the LGBTQ+ community and its devastating persistence, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Premiering in the U.S. on Thursday, August 5 is the French horror comedy Teddy written and directed by Ludovic & Zoran Boukherma and starring Anthony Bajon, Noémie Lvovsky and Christine Gautier. Amaury Chabauty (Vendeur) has composed the film’s original music. 22D Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score in June when the movie opened in French theaters. Nathan Johnson Scoring Apple TV+’s ‘Mr. Corman’
Nathan Johnson (Knives Out, Brick, Looper, The Brothers Bloom, Kill the Messenger, Young Ones) is scoring the new Apple TV+ original series Mr. Corman. The show is written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and stars himself, alongside Arturo Castro, Debra Winger, Bobby Hall a.k.a. Logic, Hector Hernandez, Juno Temple, Jamie Chung and Shannon Woodward. The comedy revolves around a man whose lifelong dream of a career in music didn’t pan out and finds himself teaching fifth grade at a school in the San Fernando Valley. Gordon-Levitt is also executive producing the A24 production with Bruce Eric Kaplan (Six Feet Under, Girl), Ravi Nandan (Euphoria, Ramy) and Inman Young (Moonbase 8).

Cut Narrative Records will release a soundtrack album for Rian Johnson’s murder mystery thriller Knives Out. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nathan Johnson who has previously scored the director’s Brick, The Brothers Bloom and Looper. The soundtrack will be released on November 22 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon Music. Knives Out is written and directed by Johnson and stars Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, Riki Lindhome, Edi Patterson, Frank Oz, K Callan, Noah Segan and Christopher Plummer. The movie centers on a famed southern detective who joins forces with local police to investigate a group of eccentric suspects following the murder of a wealthy crime novelist.
Nathan Johnson to Reteam with Rian Johnson on ‘Knives Out’
Composer Nathan Johnson is reteaming with director Rian Johnson on the upcoming crime drama Knives Out. The film starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Ana de Armas, Don Johnson, Katherine Langford and Christopher Plummer is being described as a modern murder mystery. No plot details have been announced yet. The director also wrote the screenplay and is producing the project with Ram Bergman (Papillon, Self/less).
