The track, which was recorded for the movie, but ended up being cut from the final version of the film, is written by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) & Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Encanto, Moana) and performed by Javier Bardem (who stars as Triton) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Original Song ‘Wild Uncharted Waters’ from ‘The Little Mermaid’ to Be Submitted for Awards Consideration
Disney has revealed that the studio will submit the original song Wild Uncharted Waters from the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid for awards consideration. The song written by the film’s composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) and featuring lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, Moana, Encanto) is performed on screen by Jonah Hauer-King. It is one of three original songs from the movie, the others being For the First Time performed by Halle Bailey and The Scuttlebutt performed by Awkwafina & Daveed Diggs. Walt Disney Records has released the official soundtrack album featuring all the songs from the film in two different versions.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid directed by Rob Marshall and starring Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Jacob Tremblay, Daveed Diggs and Awkwafina. The film’s original score is composed by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) and the movie’s songs are written by Menken, Howard Ashman and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Also opening wide is the action comedy The Machine directed by Peter Atencio and starring Bert Kreischer, Mark Hamill, Stephanie Kurtzuba, Jimmy Tatro, Jess Gabor and Iva Babić. Joseph Trapanese (The Witcher, Oblivion, Shadow and Bone, The Greatest Showman, Straight Outta Compton) has composed the film’s original music. Walt Disney Records will release a second soundtrack album for the the live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic The Little Mermaid. The Deluxe Edition includes the content of the original album featuring the songs from the movie composed by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Tangled, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Enchanted), lyrics by Howard Ashman and new lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights, Encanto), as well as Menken’s full original score. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 26 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Germaine Franco Wins Grammy Award for ‘Encanto’ Score
Germaine Franco has won her first Grammy Award for her score for Disney’s animated feature Encanto in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category at today’s 65th Annual Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles. She previously received an Academy Award nomination for her work on the film. Lin-Manuel Miranda received the Grammy for the movie’s original song We Don’t Talk About Bruno in the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category. Encanto was also the winner in the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Media category. The album was released by Walt Disney Records.
Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco Win Annie Award for ‘Encanto’
Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco were honored with the Annie Award in the Best Music – Feature category for their music from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto at tonight’s (virtual) 49th Annie Awards ceremony. The other contenders in the category were Dan Romer for Luca, Youki Kojima & Yuta Bandoh for Poupelle of Chimney Town, James Newton Howard & Jhené Aiko for Raya and the Last Dragon and Alex Lacamoire (& Miranda) for Vivo. Franco has previously received an Annie Award as part of the music team of Pixar’s 2017 feature Coco. Miranda’s songs and Franco’s score are now available on the official soundtrack album released by Walt Disney Records.

Sony Music Masterworks has released Sextet Montage, a previously unreleased song from the Netflix original film tick, tick… Boom!. The track written by late composer and playwright Jonathan Larson is featured in the movie during the workshop of Larson’s musical Superbia and includes vocals by cast members Joshua Henry, Vanessa Hudgens, Aneesa Folds, Gizel Jimenez, Joel Perez and Janet Dacal. The film’s original score is composed by Germaine Franco (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Dope, Tag, Little) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana, Hamilton, In the Heights) has written the movie’s original songs. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and score last Friday and a CD version will be coming out next month. Also opening wide is the biographical crime drama House of Gucci directed by Ridley Scott and starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Reeve Carney, Jack Huston, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Al Pacino. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek, Mulan, Kingdom of Heaven, Man on Fire, The Town) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records & Decca Records are set to release a soundtrack album according to the movie’s end credits, but no announcement has been made yet.
