Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the family drama Christopher Robin directed by Marc Forster and starring Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell, Bronte Carmichael, Mark Gatiss, Jim Cummings, Chris O’Dowd, Brad Garrett and Sophie Okonedo. The film’s original score is composed by Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Disturbia) & Jon Brion (Lady Bird, Magnolia). Also opening wide is the action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me co-written and directed by Susanna Fogel and starring Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon, Justin Theroux, Gillian Anderson, Hasan Minhaj, Ivanna Sakhno and Sam Heughan. Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, 300, Watchmen, John Wick) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which follows two thirty-year-old best friends in Los Angeles who are thrust unexpectedly into an international conspiracy, is being released by Lionsgate. Jon Brion has signed on to score the upcoming romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic?. The film is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, The Final Girls) and stars Rebel Wilson, Adam Devine, Liam Hemsworth, Priyanka Chopra and Betty Gilpin. The movie tells the story of a cynical woman who discovers that her life has become a romantic comedy, and she goes from sidekick to center stage. Erin Cardillo (Life Sentence), Dana Fox (Couple Retreat, How to Be Single) & Katie Silberman and Paula Pell (Sisters) wrote the screenplay. 
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for Greta Gerwig’s comedy Lady Bird. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jon Brion (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Magnolia, Paranorman, I Heart Huckabees, Trainwreck). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, November 10 (
Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins. The film’s original music is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums). Already playing in theaters since this past Wednesday is the comedy A Bad Moms Christmas written and directed by Jon Lucas & Scott Moore and starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Hernandez, Cheryl Hines, Peter Gallagher, Justin Hartley, David Walton, Christine Baranski and Susan Sarandon. Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Baywatch, Ride Along, Agent Carter) who previously scored the original film has composed the sequel’s score. 
Jon Brion has recently composed the original music for the upcoming comedy Lady Bird. The film marks the solo directorial debut of actress Greta Gerwig and stars Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, Beanie Feldstein, Lucas Hedges and Timothée Chalamet. The movie revolves around a rebellious young woman who navigates the pressures and constraints of Catholic school and life in Sacremento. Gerwig also wrote the screenplay. Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network) is producing the project with Eli Bush (While We’re Young, Top Five) and Evelyn O’Neill.
