The full details of the soundtrack album for Steven Spielberg’s drama The Post have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Jurassic Park, Jaws, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The soundtrack will be released physically on January 12, 2018 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Post starring Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods tells the story of the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham and editor Ben Bradlee, as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents.

Expanded ‘Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow’ Score & ‘E.T.’ 35th Anniversary Soundtrack Released
La-La Land Records has released a new remastered soundtrack album for Paramount Pictures’ 2004 sci-fi/fantasy adventure Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow directed by Kenny Conrad and starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law and Angelina Jolie. The album features the film’s expanded score composed by Edward Shearmur (Charlie’s Angels, Cruel Intentions, Johnny English, Reign of Fire), including over an hour of previously unreleased music. The 2-CD set is limited to 3000 copies and can now be ordered on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio samples.
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Soundtrack Set for December 15 Release
The soundtrack album for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to be released on December 15, 2017 by Walt Disney Records. John Williams (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Superman, Jaws, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, E.T.) who previously scored the first seven episodes in the series is composing the original music for the movie. Two movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the 40th anniversary re-release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Teri Garr, Melinda Dillon and Francois Truffaut. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Jaws). While Arista’s 1998 Collector’s Edition soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is still available digitally, a new limited soundtrack CD for the movie was announced this week and will be released by La-La Land Records. No word yet on a release date.
Also opening wide is the period drama Tulip Fever directed by Justin Chadwick and starring Alicia Vikander, Dan DeHaan, Christoph Waltz, Holliday Grainger, Jack O’Connell, Zach Galifianakis, Dame Judi Dench, Matthew Morrison, Tom Hollander and Cara Delevingne. Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, A Nightmare Before Christmas) has composed the film’s original music. John Williams Confirmed to Score Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Papers’
John Williams is set to score Steven Spielberg’s upcoming drama The Papers. The film stars Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Bradley Whitford, Alison Brie, Matthew Rhys, Carrie Coon, Jesse Plemons, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Michael Stuhlbarg and Zach Woods. The movie revolves around the 1971 scandal after the decision of The Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Katharine Graham to publish The Pentagon Papers. Liz Hannah wrote the screenplay. Spielberg is also producing the Amblin Entertainment production with Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ghostbusters) and Kristie Macosko Krieger (Bridge of Spies).
‘Stanley & Iris’ & ‘Under Siege 2: Dark Territory’ Deluxe Edition Soundtracks Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD club series, including a deluxe edition for the 1990 drama Stanley & Iris directed by Martin Ritt and starring Robert DeNiro and Jane Fonda. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. The Extraterrestrial). Also included is the world premiere release of Williams’ score for the 1972 drama Pete ‘N’ Tillie directed by Ritt and starring Walter Matthau and Carol Burnett. John Williams Wins Grammy Award for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
John Williams has won the Grammy Award for his music for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category. The other nominated composers in the category included Ennio Morricone (The Hateful Eight), Thomas Newman (Bridge of Spies), Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant) and Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (Stranger Things). In the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, Justin Timberlake, Max Martin and Shellback won the award for the song Can’t Stop the Feeling from DreamWorks Animation’s feature Trolls.
Expanded ‘Jurassic Park’ & ‘The Lost World’ Soundtracks Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new 4-CD set featuring the remastered and expanded scores for Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic Jurassic Park and the 1997 sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The films’ music is composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Schindler’s List). The composer’s expanded score, including previously unreleased tracks, is featured on the first two disc and his music for the sequel is featured on disc 3 & 4.
