Only one movie is opening wide this weekend:

Opening in almost 4000 theaters is the animated feature sequel Ice Age: Continental Drift directed by Steve Martino & Mike Thurmeier and featuring the voice talent of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Jennifer Lopez, Peter Dinklage, Wanda Sykes and Aziz Ansari. John Powell who has scored the previous two films in the series is returning for the fourth installment. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music has been released on Varese Sarabande. The end credits song We Are performed by Keke Palmer is available to download separately on Amazon.

Opening in limited release is the psychological thriller Red Lights directed by Rodrigo Cortéz and starring Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, Joely Richardson, Toby Jones and Elizabeth Olsen. The film’s score is composed by Victor Reyes who previously scored the director’s 2010 thriller Buried. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score has been released earlier this year on Lakeshore Records when the film premiered in Europe. ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for Blue Sky Studios’ Ice Age: Continental Drift, the fourth installment in the animated film series. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Powell. The track list reveals that the composer has incorporated themes from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 into a score cue featured on the album. The soundtrack is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out below.

Varese Sarabande to Release John Powell’s ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’ Score

Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for Blue Sky Animation’s Ice Age : Continental Drift. The album features the original music from the film composed by John Powell. The movie marks Powell’s third score for the Ice Age series following 2006’s The Meltdown and 2009’s Dawn of the Dinosaur. The soundtrack will be released on July 10, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album details are expected to be announced within the next month. The label has previously released the other scores for the franchise, including David Newman’s music from the original film. Ice Age: Continental Drift is directed by Steve Martino & Mike Thurmeier and features the voice talent of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Queen Latifah, as well as Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Jennifer Lopez, Peter Dinklage, Wanda Sykes, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, Drake, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Nick Frost, and Joy Behar. 20th Century Fox will release the film on July 13.

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is Universal Pictures’ and Illumination Entertainment’s animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The film features original songs by John Powell and director Cinco Paul. A soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs has been released on Interscope Records. Check out our previous article for the details and audio clips. Powell has also written the orchestral score for the film. Varese Sarabande has already released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score digitally and the CD version is set for a release on March 6. Also opening wide is the found footage teen comedy Project X directed by Nima Nourizadeh and produced by Todd Phillips. While there is no original score in the film, the movie features several songs. Watertower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the comedy’s music from artists including Pusha T, AMC, J-Kwon, Far East Movement & Pitbull, Nas, Kid Cudi, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, A-Trak, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dog, Wale, D12, MGK and Shiny Toy Guns. ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ Soundtrack Announced

Interscope Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the upcoming animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The album includes the movie’s orignal songs written by composer John Powell and the film’s director/screenwriter Cinco Paul and performed by Ester Dean, voice cast member Ed Helms, Fletcher Sheridan, Jenny Slate and Randy Crenshaw. The soundtrack will be released on February 28, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all songs on the album after the jump. A separate score album featuring Powell’s score will be released on Varese Sarabande Records as announced here. Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax directed by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul features the voice talent of Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Rob Riggle and Betty White. The Illumination Entertainment production will be released on March, 9 by Universal Pictures.

Varese Sarabande has revealed the cover art and track list for the score release of Universal Pictures’ and Illumination Entertainment’s animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The album incudes the original score from the movie by John Powell. The soundtrack will be released on March 6, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax directed by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul revolves around a boy who searches for a way to win the affection of the girl of his dreams and comes across the story of the Lorax, a charming creature who fights to protect his world. The film’s voice talent includes Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Rob Riggle and Betty White.

Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the fourth part of the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 directed by Bill Condon and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning, Michael Sheen, Anna Kendrick and Ashley Greene. The film’s score is composed by Carter Burwell who has scored his second movie for the franchise. A soundtrack album with the songs from the film, plus one track from Burwell’s score has already been released by Atlantic Records. Also opening wide is the animated film sequel Happy Feet Two directed by George Miller and featuring the voice talent of Elijah Wood, Pink, Robin Williams, Hank Azari, Benjamin Flores, Elizabeth Daily, Sofía Vergara, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Hugo Weaving and Anthony LaPaglia. John Powell has written the score and also produced the songs for the film. Some of the other composers well known in the film music community who are involved in the music for the project include T Bone Burnett and David Hirschfelder. EXCLUSIVE: ‘Happy Feet Two’ Soundtrack Details

Watertower Music will be releasing the soundtrack for the animated feature Happy Feet Two. The album features the original score by composer John Powell who is also involved in the film’s songs performed by the movie’s voice cast including Pink, Robin Williams, Hank Azaria and Benjamin Flores. In addition, a new version of the hit song Tightrope by R&B artist Janelle Monáe is also included on the soundtrack. The album will be released on November 21, 2011 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out after the jump. Two new movies are opening wide this Memorial Day weekend:

Dreamworks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 2 directed by Jennifer Yuh and featuring the voice talent of Jack Black  Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Gary Oldman, David Cross, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Liu, Michelle Yeoh, Dennis Haysbert, Victor Garber and Dustin Hoffman is opening in almost 4000 theaters. The film’s music is by Hans Zimmer and John Powell. A score album has been released by Varese Sarabande. For details and audio clips, visit our previous article. Also opening wide is the comedy sequel The Hangover Part II directed by Todd Phillips and starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong and Mike Tyson. The film’s score is by Christophe Beck. No score album has been announced, but a soundtrack including the songs featured in the movie has been released by Watertower Music. ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ Soundtrack Details
