Lakeshore Records has announced a second soundtrack release for last year’s drama The Rum Diary. The new album includes more music from the film’s composer Christopher Young, as well as additional tracks by artists including Dick Dale, Patti Smith, Frankie Miller, Hound Dog Taylor and The Tornados. The soundtrack will be released on February 28, 2012 digitally and will also be receiving a physical release in March. The original soundtrack album was released last October as announced here. The Rum Diary directed by Bruce Robinson and starring Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, Richard Jenkins and Amaury Nolasco was released in theaters last fall and is set for a Blu-Ray and DVD release on February 14, 2012 (click here to pre-order the Blu-Ray).

Christopher Young to Score ‘Sinister’
Christopher Young has been hired to write the music for the upcoming horror thriller Sinister. The movie reunites the composer with director Scott Derrickson. They have previously collaborated on the 2005 hit thriller The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Sinister stars Ethan Hawke as a journalist who travels with his family around the country to investigate gruesome murders. After he moves his family into a house where another family was murdered, he discovers film footage revealing what happened before the tragedy occured. Vincent D’Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Nicholas King, Clare Foley and Victoria Leigh are co-starring.

Three movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters this week is Dreamworks Animation’s Puss in Boots directed by Chris Miller and featuring the voice talent of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis and Billy Bob Thornton. The film’s music is composed by Henry Jackman. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring Jackman’s music, as well as two tracks by Rodrigo y Gabriela this past Tuesday. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller In Time directed by Andrew Niccol and starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy and Alex Pettyfer. The film’s score is composed by Craig Armstrong. A soundtrack album featuring Armstrong’s music has been released digitally earlier this week by Lakeshore Records. ‘The Rum Diary’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Reords has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the upcoming drama The Rum Diary. The album features the movie’s original score by Christopher Young, as well as four songs performed by lead actor Johnny Depp. Also included on the release are two songs by Dean Martin and Patti Smith. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 25, 2011 and on CD on November 29. The physical release is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
The 3D horror thriller Priest directed by Scott Charles Stewart and starring Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, Lily Collins and Christopher Plummer is opening in almost 3000 theaters. Also opening nationwide is the comedy Bridesmaids directed by Paul Feig, produced by Judd Apatow and starring Kirsten Wiig, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph and Jon Hamm. The film’s score is written by Michael Andrews. A soundtrack album, featuring twelve songs from the film, as well as one score track by Andrews has been released by Relativity Music. Christopher Young’s ‘Priest’ Soundtrack Details
Madison Gate Records has announced a soundtrack release for the action horror thriller Priest. The album includes Christopher Young’s original score from the film. The score was recorded with 83 piece orchestra and a 32 member choir. The album will be released tomorrow, May 10 and is available to order as an on demand CD-R on Amazon. Christopher Young’s Upcoming Projects
Christopher Young is scoring the upcoming horror action horror thriller Priest. The movie involves a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who kidnapped his niece. The film stars Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, Lily Collins, Stephen Moyer and Christopher Plummer. Priest is directed by Scott Charles Stewart who previously directed last year’s Legion with music by John Frizzell. Screen Gems has scheduled a May 13, 2011 release date for the 3D picture. Graeme Revell to take over Unthinkable
Film Music reporter has learned that Graeme Revell has replaced Christopher Young as the composer on the upcoming psychological thriller Unthinkable. The movie centers around a black-ops interrogator and an FBI agent who press a suspect terrorist into divulging the location of three nuclear weapons sets to detonate in the U.S. The movie is directed who collaborated with Young on his last movie The Informers. Unthinkable stars Samuel L. Jackson, Martin Sheen, Brandon Routh and Carrie-Anne Moss.
