Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the comedy Neighbors directed by Nick Stoller and starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Dave Franco. The film’s original music is composed by Mike Andrews (The Heat, Bridesmaids, Bad Teacher, Donnie Darko). Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by artists including Flo Rida, Missy Elliott feat. The Black Keys, Fergie, Nappy Roots, K’naan, Theophilus London, Icona Pop, Ke$ha and more. Check out our soundtrack announcement for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the animated feature Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return directed by Daniel St. Pierre & Will Finn and featuring the voice talent of Lea Michele, Martin Short, Hugh Dancy and Megan Hilty Dan Aykroyd, Jim Belushi, Kelsey Grammer, Oliver Platt, Patrick Stewart and Bernadette Peters. The film’s original songs are composed by Bryan Adams, Jim Vallance, Tift Merritt, Jim Dooley & Mike Himelstein. The movie’s original score is composed by Toby Chu (Covert Affairs, Burn Notice). ‘The Double’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Richard Ayoade’s indie comedy The Double. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andrew Hewitt who previously collaborated with the director on 2010’s Submarine. Also included are the songs from the film by Japanese artists Kyu Sakamoto and Jacky Yoshikawa & His Blue Comets, as well as Danny & The Islanders. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on April 4, 2014 and in the U.S. on May 6, 2014. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. The Double stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, Noah Taylor, Yasmin Paige, Cathy Moriarty, Phyllis Somerville and James Fox. The comedy is based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novella of the same title about an insignificant man who is driven to near breakdown by the appearance of his doppelganger. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Magnolia Pictures for a release in select theaters and on VOD on May 9.

Andrew Hewitt Scoring Richard Ayoade’s ‘The Double’

Andrew Hewitt is scoring the upcoming indie comedy The Double. The film is directed by Richard Ayoade and stars Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska. The movie is based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novella of the same name about an insignificant man who is driven to near breakdown by the appearance of his doppelganger. The comedy is co-written by Ayoade and Avi Korine (Mister Lonely) and produced by Amina Dasmal (Siren) and Robin Fox (The Caller) of Alcove Entertainment. Hewitt has previously scored Ayoade’s directorial debut feature Submarine.

Three movies are opening in wide release this weekend:

Opening in most theaters this week is Dreamworks Animation’s Puss in Boots directed by Chris Miller and featuring the voice talent of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis and Billy Bob Thornton. The film’s music is composed by Henry Jackman. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring Jackman’s music, as well as two tracks by Rodrigo y Gabriela this past Tuesday. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller In Time directed by Andrew Niccol and starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy and Alex Pettyfer. The film’s score is composed by Craig Armstrong. A soundtrack album featuring Armstrong’s music has been released digitally earlier this week by Lakeshore Records. New projects for John Debney

John Debney has two new scoring assignments coming up. He will be scoring the thriller The Double, which marks screenwriter Michael Brandt’s (3:10 To Yuma, Wanted) directing debut. Topher Grace, Richard Gere, Stana Katic, Odette Yustman and Michael Sheen lead the film’s cast. The movie centers on a retired CIA operative who is paired with a young FBI agent to unravel the mystery of a senator’s murder, with all signs pointing to a Soviet assassin. The Double is currently being shot and produced by Hyde Park Entertainment. The movie is expected to premiere in theaters in 2011.
